I pretty much know the answer for this, but just to reassure myself, I though I'd ask... I have given up any alcoholic beverages except during my period (I know I'm not pregnant). Well, my husband doesn't think it's bad for him to drink during our weekend of TTC he said as long as I'm not drinking? I thought it's bad if either party is drinking? What do you think? I'm against it, but my DH enjoys his drinks. He doesn't get plowed, but he can drink a lot. Since this is our first TTC cycle, I don't want it to be a chore, I want him to enjoy himself, but I hate telling/asking him what he can and can't do. It really doesn't get him in the mood, you know! Everyone knows drinking does, but he wouldn't be drinking for that reason. He just likes to relax after work and on the weekends? I don't know... HELP!!! I just mentioned this to him on the phone, and he sounded like he got upset. He definitely wants to TTC, he just doesn't think it'll hurt any if he drank. Aaaaahhh!

From what I've heard, I don't think it matters if he drinks. And if it helps him relax you may be more relaxed & things are more likely to work out when you aren't stressed, you know?

I agree, I don't think it matters, think of all the millions of babies that were born after a couple was out drinking!!
When I was trying, I would buy a bottle or 2 of wine as soon as I got my period and then during the 2 week wait I refrained from drinking.

I drank while TTC...and let's just say that before I knew I was pregnant, baby enjoyed a pretty bad evening of cheap tequila at a Labor Day BBQ!! And so far, not a problem!
It's not a terrible thing to drink while TTC. As soon as I knew I was pg for sure, I stopped. But I cannot tell you how I am craving a glass of wine, and a cosmopolitan!!
Lots of people's advice to me when TTC was 'You guys need to go out and get drunk and come home and make a baby!', so I say relax and HAVE FUN trying!!!

doctors will tell you it's not bad on a monthly basis to have a glass or 2 of wine.... it's supposed to be good for the heart. also, i just read that studies show (this one is funny) that a person who has 1 to 5 drinks a week is significantly lower at risk to suffer from DEMENTIA - or other memory loss related afflictions..... DID YOU EVER?????

I do not agree that women should drink while TTC- but that is my opinion. Men, on the other hand, can drink while TTC. What what I have read alchol does not effect sperm count or sperm viability.

I mis-understood what you said...I thought if you had a few drinks while you were trying to get prego. That I dont think would affect the baby, if you were to get orego.
I would NEVER recommend drinking while pregnant. But Im sure a sip of wine would not hurt.
