Dropping the pounds for wedding...

Original post by carolinebr

Ok, I am starting to freak out. If I go on time, I will have 10 weeks from the baby to the altar. Um, HOW AM I GOING TO LOSE THE WEIGHT.

I am so bloated. My e-ring barely fits. Even my NOSE is swollen (apparently its common). I am starting to think I should have pushed the wedding back. (We booked before we were pg.)

Here's a photo taken last week, at 31 weeks. I have gained 23 pounds. You can see the before & after below. I can't honestly STARVE myself b/c I have to nurse the baby. And I say I am going to go to the gym but everyone I know who has had a baby laughs in my face when I say that. They say I will be too tired to even drive to the gym, let alone work out.

I don't expect anyone to have any magic solutions, I just needed to vent/freak.

Re: Dropping the pounds for wedding...

nature's diet plan.... BREAST FEEDING!!!

Obviously a good portion of the weight is water and other stuff. Other than that, any fat will consumed quickly by breast feeding.... don't fret. Just try to exercise in moderation.....

Re: Dropping the pounds for wedding...

Thank you everyone. I needed a little confidence boost. I was so blue last night. I feel so gigantic. I am waddling & knocking things over with my belly & feeling so awkward & unpretty

In answer to someone's question... it's a girl

You remind me a lot of my sister. Your build and the way you are carrying seem very similar. My sister was a size 4 to begin with. When she left the hospital she wore my clothes (that were too small for me ) which were a size 10. At 7 weeks when she went back to work she was a size 8 and was down to a 4 at 10 weeks. The girls at work call her snap back since she loses the baby bulge so quick. She nursed her baby exclusively so that did help shrink the uterus (sorry to be graphic) back to size and burn a lot of calories. She eats like crap and never works out but looks fabulous. So don't worry it is possible. Especially if you work at it a little after the 6 week recovery time. good luck and no matter what you will be a beautiful bride .

This is so exciting to be having a baby and getting married!

First off you are beautiful! I would not worry. Def breast feed since it bruns calories. And maybe follow a weight watcher diet. It helps a ton w/ out having to exercise. When the Dr. gives you the ok to workout..I would do the windsor pilate videos.. I use them and they work wonders..leans you out and everything.

You should look into yoga for pregnant mommies They offer it at the Bikram Yoga studio in Rockville Center. It helps prep you for birth too!! I heard your stomach muscles go right back when you take this class.

HTH!!!

Don't worry!! My sister had her Baby at the end of November She gained 60 POUNDS!!!! Boy she LOVED her Donuts!!!! She breast fed and she lost 32 ounds in 3 weeks. Its been almost 2 months since the baby was born and she is almost back down to her original weight. All she did was breastfeed. She never went to the gym and I'm pretty sure I've caught her still eating donuts!!! You will be fine!! Relax and enjoy being pregnant and beautiful!!

Well I think you look stunning!!!
But you will be a busy little bee once you have the baby but just lots of water. Maybe you won't have gym time but if you have time to walk?? Or do you have an elliptical or a tredmill? Can always hop on that when baby is napping?? Crunches?? Get some weights??? You can do it!! Regardless you will look great!!!

I'm so sorry you are feeling a bit worried/down/freaked out

Remember that a bunch of that weight is from the baby and water! So once you give birth and are able to to start eating normally again you should loose the weight quickly. Nursing should help too! You may not be back to your original size but you'll be close.

No mattter what your going to be a beautiful bride!

I second this. I heard breast feeding does wonders, so don't worry you'll be fine by then.

You look great!! Congrats on your baby! How wonderful!!! I do have some ideas you can do to drop pounds like crazy...my friend at work just lost 14 pounds in ONE month I couldnt believe it. This is what he does...he goes to the gym 5 days a week...lots of cardio. Lean cuisine 2 times a day ( he loves the pizza) and oatmeal for breakfast. Thats it. He doesnt eat anything else besides fruit or vegies for a snack. You can do it!!!! Plus 20 pounds is not bad at all considering you had a baby...my girfriend gained40 and she lost it all but it took her a year. Good luck gorgeous!!

Re: Dropping the pounds for wedding...

If you are motivated to lose some weight for the wedding, you will be able to. You can get one of those heavy duty strollers and take the baby for tons of walks. Also, maybe see a nutritionist for a one time consult so they can set a menu for you that is healthy, but helps you practice portion control (or just look something up online, or ask your doctor).
Good luck.....you are beautiful either way!

Don't worry about it! I dropped over 30 lbs in 2 months without even trying the first time... you haven't gained that much at all!

And you are STILL gorgeous!

Re: Dropping the pounds for wedding...

Listen, don't worry to much. You said you have ten weeks to loose the weight before the wedding all right. As soon as you feel good enough to get up just start some light excising and continue to eat right especially if you are bf the baby. Also remember bout tome you are 40 weeks you would be 7 to 8 lbs of baby and another 10lbs of water so that is about 17lbs that you can loose in two to three weeks then you will have another seven weeks to loose the other 6lbs. You can do it. I just lost 15 lbs in two months. . Just hang in there. You'll loose it all.
