I booked Duet bc of the quality and price. I also liked that all photog are all the same price, which I heard that Patken charges extra per certain photog
Where did you hear this from? To all the Patken brides, is this true? They told me that your photographer gets picked after your engagement session.. They never mentioned that some are more than others.

Re: Duet vs. Patken
i am a patken bride. we only met with them so price wise i do not know how they compare.
we chose to get 2 photogs and im paying extra for the 2nd photog. if you book the owner, Doug, he is substantially more money.
they usually choose your photog for you based on what kinda of style you like and what your personalities are and what you are looking for although you can request certain photogs.
we were assigned a photog that i secretly had wanted anyway. our 2nd photog will be assigned coser to the date, whoever is available

Re: Duet vs. Patken
The prices were comparable. We just didn't feel comfortable at Patken and didn't like some of their policies (like the owner, who was the only photographer I liked, charging $1500 more and not doing the reception b/c he's 'bored' with them). We almost went with Duet - a friend of mine had amazing experiences - but in the end we fell in love with a different photographer.

Re: Duet vs. Patken
I'm not sure about Patken. I personally worked with Duet for my wedding, 2 photo and 1 video for 10 hrs, 1 album, free 3 enlargements, editing & music layout for video incl., CD for online proofs for $4500 (w/tax). I loved their photography! I love the music and effects on the video but overall the video was ok. The quality of Duet is phenomenal, they were featured on The Best of Knot 08.

I'm doing with Patken either and so far I didn't have any problem. And I'm very secure I won't have. I love their pictures and we got a very good price. We quote with Duet too and the guy that talked to us got late to the appointment and could barely speak English. We had a very bad first impression.

I met with Duet and Patken....I found the prices pretty comparable but the person I met with at Duet seemed like he was annoyed to be meeting with us and barely talked about anything...
I booked with Patken. I actually just came from there with another LIW bride and we are both very satisfied. They answered all of our questions and accomodated everything we wanted. They were also picked as a Knot winner for 2008-2009...
I feel very comfortable with my decision!!

Re: Duet vs. Patken
I know at leat 6 people in FH's family that have used Patken & all I can say is that their work has a way of standing out.
I booked with them a few weeks ago but left a message yesterday for a question I had, & was called back a little after 10 am this morning. I have had NO problems with anyone I have dealt with. I have NOTHING but good things to say about them.
I went into booking them knowing that they would be a little pricey & still ended up with so much for what we're paying.
I have 2 girlfriends of mine that used a different photography cpmpany that I will not mention but I was looking & their proofs this week & I 'm not trying to be nasty but I could have taken these pics!! They were they same poses, & almost boring...& they were charged not that much less!
I am a picture person & it really means alot to me to have a great photographer. I really had no idea what the difference was until I saw all of my FIL's pics & video & compared them to others. They are just unbelievable.

Patken is probably pricier but they have AMAZING quality! They were the most unique photographer that we saw in terms of style of photos. I am a patken bride My photo and video was $3500 including thank yous, save the dates, and digital negatives.
That's an awesome price. When did you book? Does that include parent albums?
Does not include parent albums. I booked in march.

Re: Duet vs. Patken
I never looked into Duet, so no comment there, but I was very satisfied with the quality of my photos with Patken. Jessie made my DH and I look amazing, with very creative and beautiful shots. I couldn't be happier with them. The turnaround was very quick. The only gripe I have (which I knew of before I booked) is that I have to wait 6mths for the CD. But they were very competitively priced and very professional.
