Duggar Wedding on TLC

Original post by DnJ0809

Ok, so I just watched the Duggar wedding special. The oldest son of the family with 18 children got married. When he 'kissed the bride' that was the couples very first kiss EVER!

I couldn't imagine. I barely survived a week when I first met FH.

I figured they wouldn't have any liquor, but wasn't it SO weird that they didn't allow dancing at the reception?

Part of my family on my moms side are protestant, and they don't allow dancing at all either!! I have no clue why! it makes no sense!

I know, its not like you have to dance the forbidden dance... I don't see why something lame like the electric slide or even the hokey pokey wouldn't be allowed... to each is own.

'10 bride crashing... just wanted to point out how ahhhh I went as the father of the bride discussed how now the husband is the one with the 'authority' and how in handing over his daughter he's 'transferring the authority' over to the husband...

BTW, my cousin in Florida got married EXACTLY the same way, we didn't go because we weren't in touch with them and we got a 'dress code' card with the invite that made my mother freak out... but they hadn't even held hands til they were up on the altar, let alone kiss... she was like 22, they had no drinking or dancing, lots of juice and sandwiches and stuff in the church hall, etc. They're Baptist or something. Her husband was one of 12 kids! It's seriously another world down there...

I just hope our best man has the rings in his pocket and doesn't have to jump off the alter, run down the aisle, and get the rings from the back room.

What I find odd is that they still did the garter toss. Being that they are all so conservative and all, I didn't know they would allow the groom to touch the brides leg in front of everyone.

I did notice though when they were showing all of the planning, the bride Anna was holding the groom's hands weird. Like she was clinging on or something. It just looked odd.
