Re: dumb cooking question!
I think no, because the bacon won't stay if you cook it first. Definitely get some more opinions though because the extent of my cooking skills is pasta and a salad!

Re: dumb cooking question!
I am 99.9% sure because this i know is done to moisten and flavor other meats such as putting bacon, uncooked, over the breast of a roasting chicken or turkey. Putting a slice that is already cooked will defeat the moisture purpose and some of the flavoring purpose because the cooked piece will dry out and possibly burn. Good luck! Sounds tasty!

Re: dumb cooking question!
Also, the meatloaf will be cooking at least an hour I assume, which is more than enough time to fully cook the bacon and flavor the loaf.

Re: dumb cooking question!
use uncooked bacon, and also another hint, when cooking a turkey or a chicken , put uncooked bacon on top and around the legs of the bird.. it cuts down on the basting and makes it very juicy... use more or less depending on the size of the bird..
