Re: dumb question
I think it is standard. I have never gotten without a direction card.

Not a dumb question at all. I asked the same to my friends and family. They are telling me that I should. I will probably add them

Re: dumb question
how would your guests know how to get there without direction cards?
not everyone has access to mapquest or GPS systems, and more often than not, those directions are not as good as the ones on direction cards
also, it shouldn't be extra work at all if you just use the directions cards supplied by your RH, and even some churches give direction cards. If your church doesn't have a direction card, you can probably get away with putting the church address on the invitation since a lot of people don't make it to the ceremony and go straight to the reception

Re: dumb question
yes it saves people time from mapquesting and what not...and sometimes the cards from the RH are a better route than what you find on map sites

Re: dumb question
it helps to include that in the invitation, especially for the older guest who doesn't know how to use internet (google map).

Definitely add direction cards to your ceremony and also from the ceremony to your RH. I recently attended a wedding that only had directions to the ceremony..none to the RH - we found it, but would up taking a long route.

Re: dumb question
I'd definitely include directions! Last weekend, my FMIL showed us a shower invitation that they received with no RSVP contact info at all. And the subsequent wedding invitation had poorly-worded directions that looked like a quick DIY because important info was missing.... something like 'take the parkway to....' but it never said WHICH parkway and from WHAT direction!!!

Re: dumb question
I am planning on doing them in the invite. I know I always appreciated them when sent in invitations I've received.

Re: dumb question
I think it's expected, although honestly everyone these days has a GPS or at least prints out Mapquest, google or yahoo directions, but I still think it's proper to add direction cards to the invites.

Re: dumb question
I actually DID just receive an invitation recently with no direction card and it kinda irked me. Definitely send the map! =]

Re: dumb question
we are including direction cards to our RH and just putting the address on our invitation for the church...people have to get those on their own....i do not think i have ever received invites without directions to the RH
