If you or fh's parents give you money or something for you engagement or housewarming, do you send a thankyou note or just thank them in person?
Im asking because I always send a thank you note to my family/friends who gave us gifts- but do I do the same for my parents?

I still send a thank you card to my parents or his parents. I send them to everyone.

It's always good etiquette to send thank-yous. In person is better of course but this way they have something that everyone else got too, and doesn't feel left out. Thanks for reminding me, I have some thank-yous to write out too!

We just had our e-party on Sunday and My FILS gave us money ...I sent them a thank you note ....I also sent one to each of my brother in laws .....Even though i know that my mother in law pick out there gifts ....and I will thank in person as well ....But I think that you should still send a card it shows that you took time out to thank them

I sent both sets of parents a mushy thank you note for all occasions, shower, e party, wedding etc. They loved it, my mom still has them out.

I send thank you notes for everything, regardless if I already thanked them in person. Its just something nice to do.

I would do both. Maybe not just a regular Thank You card from a box, but a mushy Hallmark. If it was my mother-in-law, I'd like to kiss a little butt! So she's not telling everyone how ungrateful I am for her iron!

I just finished my thank you gards for out E-Party, I bought special ones (99 cent ones at Wal Mart) for his and my parents. And made a more personal thank you notation inside.

My parents and his mom threw us an engagement party in Nov and I hand delivered thankyou cards to them. I wrote something cute and funny inside along with the thanks
