So, is the 'grooms's cake' a thing that everyone does? I don't recall ever seeing one at a wedding. But, I think it is a fun thing to do. Is it suppose to be a surprise to your FH? Also, please post pics if you have! TIA

Re: Dumb Question? Clueless on this
It is definitely not required. Some people do it, some don't, some have the groom's cake at the RD.

totally not required---but can be something cute. its mostly a southern tradition that has moved its way up north.
a lot of ppl like to have it at the RD and make it something very fun having to do with FH's hobbies

i think a lot of gilrs try and surprise their FH's with it. i was going to do this for my DH and get a cake in the shape a Shelby Mustang--but didn't have a chance to order it before the wedding.
i was going to surprise him with it--but oh well! LOL

Its definitly not a requirement. I was going to surprise FH with one but after thinking about it, i was like why bother? Were going to have a beautiful wedding cake and a viennese, so who needs extra cake?
Some girls do however decide to order the cake for their hubbys and give it to them at their RD which is really cute i think.

cake is up to you. Joe is having a 'guys night in' 2 nights before the wedding. Himself, some buddies, my dad, brother and grandfather are grilling out and having a bonfire. My mom will bring the cake over then to suprise him. I'm having one made in the shape of a guitar. We were going to do it at the rd, but since the wedding is so small we're not even having one now.

Re: Dumb Question? Clueless on this
A lot of people do it for the rehearsal dinner. I'm having one as a surprise for my FH, but I don't have a picture. Speaking of which, I need to deliver the decorations to the bakery! I'm having them make a NY Giants football cake, so I bought a bunch of NFL Giants cake decorations for them to use, like a bobblehead, some pennants, etc. I won't know what it looks like until the day, but I'm sure it will be nice.

I got one for my husband, he is a soccer fanatic! I searched everywhere and they can be expensive! The cheapest price I found was Cakes by Mona, she is a vendor here. She did a great job and was affordable. No one ate the damn cake at rehearsal so I brought it to the wedding! lol XOXOXO Kitty
