dumb question - Reception - sorry so long

Ok ladies - i know this is like asking 'how long is a piece of string' but I'm getting ready to start calling some reception halls in LI. I know you must've ALL posted a million times on where you've booked - but i'm lost in a see of villas, chateaus, and clubs! here's the thing - my FH and I are trying to see how BIG the difference in price is going to be between getting married in my home town (Rochester, NY) and getting married here. we both pretty much have our hearts set on here - but we need to see how big the gap between the two is price wise. We're headed home, to see the family and friends, in a couple of weeks and i'm trying to schedule some of the nicer places there - that said i want to get some appointments done here.

Can you recommend maybe 3 key places I should check out on LI that fall in the 'average' range of pricing and have good quality services and staff??

Thanks so much for your help! It's only been a week and i'm nauseous at having to make this decision. its two TOTALLY different weddings!

Hmm.... If I had to narrow it down, I would try maybe Westbury Manor, the Watermill and Villa Lombardis. They are all beautiful and I think they are in the 'average' price range (someone correct me if I'm wrong!!!) Good luck!

We just got married at Villa Lombardi's and for what we paid, it was amazing. We looked everywhere and they gave us the most for our $$. FM me if you want specifics. Good luck!

Pricing will entirely depend on your time of year and if it's considered prime time. My wedding on a Sunday in January of 08 is $59 a head for what people in June pay $125 for..so it's all a matter of what day of the week you want & what month...

I'm getting married at the Fox Hollow and love it. Prior to that - we met with the Swan Club and liked it a lot as well and it was very well priced..

In general, like mentioned above, you'll get a much better price during the 'off-peak' wedding season (mid November through mid/late March) with Jan/Feb being probably the most affordable.

A Thursday evening wedding will usually be the least expensive, followed by Sunday afternoon. Saturday daytime and Friday evening would be more expensive, with Saturday evening being THE most expensive.

So keep these things in mind - you can get a MUCH better price this way. We would have saved thousands if we pushed our wedding date back one month, but we really didn't want to for a number of reasons.

One last thing, if you plan a wedding in a few months, you can sometimes get a better price on an available reception hall because they want to book it. Although it might be harder to get all your other vendors!

Started planning my wedding in June '07!

YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED HOW EASY IT REALLY IS!!!

I'm getting married Oct 8th near you date even though were a year apart.. and I booked on Columbus day and I got a price that they would give you in the winter, yet get to have everything I wanted in Oct. so it really depends on the time of year, the amount of people, and what you want and expect out of a hall... I mean there's plenty of 'average' halls that can be cheap, and then you have average that are pircey... Its a really hard category, good luck and def. Look at westbury manor. I looked at 25 halls and to me nothing compared to WM...

Try Thatched Cottage, Fox Hollow, and Crest Hollow. I checked them for a Sunday afternoon for Feb and they gave very good prices. In general, the halls give much better prices for Feb, and even more so on a Sunday afternoon. If you are looking to save money, get married on Sunday instead of Saturday night.

I'd def. check out the North Ritz Club. I'm having my reception there and for the price we are getting from them and the amount of food and services, there was no way we could turn them down. Plus its gorgeous!

OK here is my deal. I got married at Floral Terrace on March 25th. I paid $85 per person, with tax and gratuity already included. Also included was my venetian hour. It was a Sunday. It was pretty much all day. Ceremony was booked for 4 pm cocktail hour from 5-6 reception/venetian 6 to 11. The food was UNREAL, service was outstanding!!! The place was amazing I have nothing but good things to say about them. The minimum is 150.
Many brides here got married there and loved it too, the review board is great to see what poeple say about their hall. The ONLY down fall is that there really isn't a 'picture place' to take pictures after the ceremony. I took pictures before my ceremony at the Old Westbury Gardens, so my dilema was solved there! Good luck finding a place!!!
XOXOXO
