this is the 1st time we will probably have to file together (although not sure yet!) - and we are thinking of going to someone to prepare it for us (used to do my own and dh's father helped him with his!) - how much does it usually cost???
lol....i should add we don't have any overseas property or too much of anything.....so it shouldn't be complicated!

I also had a similar situation..my aunt did mine, but we're filinf together through our business acountant..he's charging us about 200, mostly because Joe has to file as a corporation.

I t really all depends on what you have. Do you own a house, have a lot of stock sales, schedule C income. The number of forms the accountant needs ot file, usually determines the cost. I knwo that I chage about 40 50 for a normal return, and if you itemize and have schedule C income I charge 75 - 100.
But I know that my boss charges alot more then that. I have no overhead, so I can charge less.
