Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

I think I have heard some bad things about the color running. Any experiences to share, good or bad?

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

Are you talking about for BMs?

Im not sure about the color running, but Im kinda against them because I want my girls to be able to wear the shoes again. Im thinking silver or something neutral that they can get use out of for their $$

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

I did not ask for dyable shoes. Unless it is a very hard color to match, I believe in being able to re-use the shoes for another occasion.

i have never had a problem with the dye running. The girls can always die black and wear again.

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

We are using the dyeables.....the place I get them from is really good at matching colors (he has been dying my shoes since prom....for my cousin's wedding I was the only one whose shoes exactly matched my dress), and most places (mine included) have a policy where if you bring them in, they will dye them black (for free) so you can wear them another time (really now, is there such a thing as too many black shoes? I didn't think so )....my only requirement for my girls is that they get their shoes there!

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

i've had dyeables run before and it's not pretty. sweat and rain will turn pretty shoes into a nightmare. plus they're very 'prom' in my opinion.

I'm actually talking about me. I told the BMs to get whatever they want. But the shoes I am finding that I think I like are white so I would have to have them dyed ivory so I am worried about the color bleeding on my dress or something.

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

I don't mind them so much, but, at my sister's wedding, we took pics in a park and the ground was completely saturated. I didn't even think anything of it, until i looked down later and saw that my feet were completely red. The rest of the night I was known as 'bleeding feet'..wonderful, right? haha. It's something to take into consideration if you'll be walking through grass etc. for pics.

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

I have a true ivory dress. I found white dyeable shoes at DSW. They are really off white and they had off white sequins. The color is close so I have no need to dye them. Nobody is going to look at my feet so closely to do a color match. I might bit a bit shade off but it is not noticeable.

Honestly, in your poll I didn't know whether to choose 'bad' or 'ugly', so I chose ugly. I'm not a fan.

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

To answer your question.. If the color is way off with your dress and you love the shoes I would dye them. But its really not goign tobe so notiveable just in the pic where they take of your shoes.

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

Personally, no experience. My SIL, yes. She had to get dyeable shoes for a wedding she was in and they stepped in a small puddle on the curb getting out the of the limo at the church and all their shoes got ruined. Why pay all that money to get them dyed and if they even get a trinkle of water on them, it ruins the shoes. JMO. I nixed the idea for my wedding and just requested my BM to get silver shoes to whatever comfort/style they preferred.

Well that's true...and those pics are usually of the shoes on their own with no dress in sight. Good point!

Re: Dyeable shoes...good idea or bad idea?

I'm having my girls wear silver shoes. I've already heard stories of BM's wearing dyeables that got wet and the color it got on the bride's dress.
