Dyeing hair after Japanese straightening?

I'm straightening my hair on Thursday! So excited. But someone mentioned that I can't dye my hair once I do this b/c it'll cause too much damage. Has anyone heard this? What dyes would you recommend?

Yes I have heard this, My sister in law goes to a very high end salon and her stylist told her that he wouldnt even do it, she had to wait a week I think.

I had japanese starightening done. I was told not to dye my hair for a while...I think I waited a few months, however, I was told that you couldn't dye it blonde because that would cause too much damage, I wanted to get blonde highlights and my hairstylist wouldnt do it. Hope this helps!

You can do vegetable dye. I don't know how your hair is but the Keratin straightening is great you can dye & highlight your hair but it is temporary. The Japanese straightening is great though!Hope this helps!

I have had it done several times. They say not to dye it for atleast several weeks. Going blonde in any way is not rec. I have seen many girls do it then get hightlights and its really bad and their hair breaks.

Wait the amout of time they tell you and then do it . Don't dye it before you go because the straightener strips the color from the hair and you will leave with 4 hair colors.

My friend who has been getting JS done for a few years now says it a big no-no. It will cause severe damage to your hair.

I had JS done. I have heard a lot about the big no-no for going blonde. But they told me as long as I wait a couple of months that a darker color is not as damaging. I am afraid also. I do get scattered gray strands here and there. I was thinking of using a wash out at-home color close to my natural color. I think that is the safest way to go. Has anyone else done this??

I had it done, but waited a few months to color my hair. I however, did not go blond just a lighter color. My hair is jet black.

I don't think it's a good idea. You should talk to your stylist about it first. I know there is a time frame you have to wait. Also, you might just cause tons of breakage all over your hair.

just curious? what made you want to do that?

My hair used to be really curly. (I used to straighten it in HS with my blowdryer, but I stopped right before college). It's naturally dark brown. But the older I get, the looser my curls get. I'm 28 now, and I have a wavy, frizzing mess... and I'm starting to see grays. So... time to do something different.
