I received an e-mail to my normal e-mail saying it was from e-bay and an 'account pre-suspension e-mail'. It said my credit card information needed to be updated and click on a link. I did and I was brought to what I SWORE looked just like e-bay , down to everything. Well I know people were having issue lately with accounts on there and I read in a magazine that many good spammers can duplicate websites. So I went to the 'real' e-bay...did the live chat and sure enough it was a HOAX! Had I not read that article, I surly would have put my info in, there was no reason for me to think that I was not on the REAL e-bay site. Guess what? Turns out I ANSWERED one of these before for PAYPAL....I dont know what will happen now, its been weeks , maybe months but nothing has happned as fas as my bank account goes ( they probably realized tey actually have to PAY the bank in my situation )
So please, if you think it seems 'fishy' even if you dont...E-mail them or anyone before doing this, no matter how REAL it looks. The 'KICKER' for me, was I kept trying to log onto 'my acoount' on the fake site and it kept asking me for my user id over and over again, which dint seem right...

I got a similar email a while back. I am glad you were smart enough to realize that it was a hoax.

Re: E-Bay Warning!
I got an e-mail from ebay or paypal , I can't remember which, when I first signed up. It linked me to what looked like their website and asked me to sign in. I did and right after remembered somone on here posting that there was a hoax e-mail like this going around. I changed my passwords immediately through the real websight. Thankfully nothing ended up coming from it.

Re: E-Bay Warning!
Always remember....both Ebay and PayPal will NEVER send you an email with a link to sign on. If you get an email that has a link 99.9% of the time its a hoax,
another way to check is to mouse over the link they are sending you to...without clicking on it...most of the time it will have some other address than ebay.com or paypal.com.
If you get an email saying that your acct has been tampered with or will be suspended, open a new browser and type i n the address for ebay or paypal and sing on. Most likey if ther is a problem, you will get notice from them when you sign on.

yes, change your password now because even though they haven't done anything yet they could still do it.

Someone I work with got one of those emails for Citibank as well. They emailed it to his work number which he thought was wierd, so he called and yup- a hoax.

Check your credit card statements. I am constantly getting billed for something. I have called MANY times about stuffed I was being charged for. And they will always take it off.
