E party...

E party...

I am a bridesmaid in the wedding of one of my own BM's. Her sister, MOH, emailed a while ago saying that the bride wants an engagement party and would we be willing to help organize it. Some BM's replied Yes (I didn't reply) and now the MOH has booked a place and told us we will all have to pay a certain amount. for this party Now I know I will have to pay for a shower and some other typical bridal party things, but throwing an E party? And when the bride asks for it herself? Am I totally wrong here? I just feel like it's asking a lot of us. I have no problem organizing a get together, sending an evite to friends, going out for a drink, but I do not think I should be chipping in for this. Any thoughts?

You are correct, the Bridal Party does not pay for the E-party.

A friend or family member may decide to host it at their house or the bride and groom (or their parents) might pay for it.

But this is not the Bridal Party's responsibility at all.

this is the first i've heard of where a bp is paying for the eparty. usually the eparty is hosted by one of the parents (or both), or the couple themselves. the bp usually just pays for the shower

The e-party is never paid by the bp....the bride has a lot of nerve it seems. Usually this party is handled by the parents, if not by the couple themselves....

Thanks, on top of the stress of my own wedding now I have to deal with this. I'm glad I'm not over-reacting and other people feel the same way. It makes me feel better!!!!

As a BM no you should not be helping to pay for an E-party. This is something the couple or the parents host and pay for. You should only be helping to pay for the shower and B-party, and gifts for those occaisons, and of course your dress, etc. But NOT an e-party too, like you said esp since the bride asked for it; it's just too much IMO. Giving an e-gift is one thing, throwing a party is something else!

We just had our e-party and family payed for it. The party should not pay for a thing.

I have never ever heard of any BP organizing or paying for an E-Party...that is something that the families or the couples do! The BP does the shower
