I'm having problems finding a place to have the e-party. i originally wanted it in my backyard, but my parents are fearing a torrential downpour that would force all 80 or so guests into the house. they just feel that it's our luck that it will rain, which it likely will. i already have a caterer that i want to use, but i'm having difficulty finding a place that rents rooms large enough for 80 people that DON'T require that you use their caterer. does anyone know of any places that just rent rooms with tables and chairs and you do the rest? if not, can someone recommend some decent but not expensive restuarants that could handle around 80 people near the syosset area? thanks :)

Re: e-party
If you know someone in the Syosset Fire Department, they have a nice area above the garage that can be used for parties (but, you have to know someone and I believe each person can only have it for one party per year).
Also, maybe you could look into getting a tent for your parents backyard in case of rain.
ETA: There's also a VFW Hall, I haven't been there in years and it needed a renovation back then so I am not promising anything!

Re: e-party
i've heard about the syosset firehouse, but unfortunately we have no connections. we've also discussed the tent idea, but we recently went to an engagement party (longmarriage's) and despite the tents, people still ran inside when it started raining. then again, to say it was raining that day was an understatement----it was more like one constant curtain of water falling out of the sky!

Re: e-party
This may or may not help. We had our e-party 3 weeks ago in my FMIL backyard. We rented a 20x30 tent and tables in chairs. We only had about 50 people there, so you might need a bigger tent.
We got trays of food from an italian caterer and it was great.
It POURED ALL DAY. And I don't mean a little rain here and there, I mean pouring the whole time.
But it didn't matter. The whole day was great and everyone had an awesome time. The way I think of it is, if it didn't rain, we would all still be under the tent to stay out of the sun! Its def. something to consider. Don't let rain ruin your parade.

Re: e-party
We rented a K of C hall and we didn't have to use their people for food. My mom cooked and did some of my FHs family and then she hired 2 people to help serve and clean up.
