E-Party

E-Party

Hey ladies!

My FH and I got engaged in Oct, we are planning to have an e-party in March. I know it seems like a long time to wait but my sister was engaged in August so I'm waiting for her to have her e-party/housewarming before FH and I have ours. The room we booked can only seat 100 and we both have pretty big families, so my question... Should I invite my older cousins(ages 15-20) with guests or just send an invite to the 'smith family' and if I have enough room allow them to bring guests.

I'm not really sure how to go about this b/c I know someone who had a wedding and didn't invite anyone unmarried with a guest no matter their age and it bothered me. Now I feel like a hypocrite.

TIA

First off, I wouldn't worry about your e-party being too far away. I'm having mine in May 09, which will be the one year mark til our wedding day in 2010. And my advice would be to address it to the family so that they have to come to you about bringing a guest. I think if they aren't invited with one, it's only polite to ask you first if there is enough room. Then you can decide from there. Or you could come up with your tentative guest list and add your cousins with guests and see how many that comes to. If it's too close to your maximum, then reconsider it. Either way could work. Hope I wasn't too confusing

Re: E-Party

Our rule of thumb in our family is: If your over 21, you get invited with a guest. I think 15 is too young to be invited with a guest, but on the other hand if you have a cousin who is 20 and in a relationship, I would. But if you need to cut back on people, I think its best to just say no guests for young cousins under 21

I agree with Christine- 15 year olds don't need to be invited with a guest. make the cut off either 18 or 21..whichever works better for you!

Wewe made our tentative list and without any guests were already over 100. And there really isnt anyone we can cut, like i said we have very large families. So we are just hoping for some regrets...that sounds bad but i'm not sure what else to do!

Thanks for the advise!

for my e-party my rule of thumb was 'if you arent currently in a relationship you arent bringing a guest'
our guest list was higher than anticipated and we needed to cut corners...they could get mad if they want..too bad too sad!!

This might be a silly question but can you book some place that holds more people?

Re: E-Party

If they are over the age of 21 and they are in a relationship then they get a guest! If there not in a relationship they don't get one! It's not a big deal, B/c they are family!!!!! Remember they are going to know other people there, it's not like they are your co-worker where they really don't know anyone! I'm not going to invite them with a guest just to be nice, so I have to pay for someone I don't know! NO WAY! That’s what I did. And it worked out fine and everyone understood!
