So my mother wants to throw FH and I an engagement party. She's worried that the guest list is going to be huge and does not want it to be like the wedding (we are only looking to have approx 125 ppl at the wedding, and those are all close family and friends)
My question is, who do you invite to your engagement party and who do you leave out? It would be ridiculous to have 125ppl at the e-party so we have to cut corners somewhere. I don't need to invite all of my friends, just my closest and same thing with FH, but our family combined is around 60-70.
I'm torn and frustrated because my mom keeps looking to me for answers and I don't know what to tell her

*Wedding Party *Immediate family *Uncles/Aunt and 1st cousins *a handful of very close friends
And that had us at 70pp

We ran into the same situation. We wanted to invite everyone bc we were handing out the STDs with the favors, but we couldn't afford to host that many people.
so we ended having a small, beer & bbq e-party with the immediate family, wedding party, and very close friends (w.o dates)

we have way too many people at ours (86-90 inc. kids) ....family and cousins (but they all have kids- which creates the high numbers), BP and close friends. We had a no coworker policy until FH's coworker invited us to their 200 person fancy E-party and now he feels liek he's gonna be insulted if he doesnt get the invite to ours.
I suggested to FH since we are doing a backyard party that we change it to a cocktail party and start it a little later so ppl won't bring their kids and he shot me down. Maybe one of you girls can benefit from that idea

We were in the same situation. We are looking to invite about 250 to our wedding. I have a huge family so we needed to cut out invites by limiting it to adults only . We also cut it off at first cousins and my parents sacraficed having their friends so that we could invite all of ours. We invited over 100 but we are hoping to get around 90-100......fingers crossed

we had 100 something, my fh's family is 54 people, mine is like 20 (he has like 28 FIRST cousins). We did both of our familys, close friends and a few other friends of my parents

I only invited my close friends, family and bridal party. I think I'm up to 25 people possibly coming. For the wedding I'm hoping to have 100 guests.
