E Party dilemma

I thought I wanted an eparty cuz i want FH's fam to meet mine and have a nice relaxed BBQ but I keep procrastinating. i dont want to plan, and im feeling really lazy and uninspired.

maybe i should cancel the idea? did you guys have your family help a lot? i have no idea how much help i should ask for since the eparty is kinda 'optional'. (i only have 2 ppl in my BP)

my parents gave us the eparty as a gift so they came with us to look at the place and help choose the menu but all th eother stuff i did myself.
i made the CP's, favors and any other decor. i also met with our dj and handled all of that. I printed and mailed the invites and handled the rsvp's as well.
i cant see why your family wouldnt want to help you plan a little though. i just enjoy planning and im a bit of a control freak so i prefer to do it myself

Once you set the date, ask both sets of parents to compile a list ( give them a set number) with addresses, send out your invites and than relax until 2 weeks before.

My eparty ran so smoothly. We booked Novita, we sent out invites, we waited until 2 weeks before to work on it, went to Ikea to purchases vases, And the week before my mom helped me put together some of the centerpieces, while FH's mom ordered the cake. Oh the best thing in the world was sending the RSVP's to my FH's office... while he was in the office he would take care of it.

Trust me, don't freak out! Things pull together!

Mine was kinda hectic I wont lie. We had it at a very nice VFW hall and my mother and step mother cooked all the food. We decorated it all ourselves and it was a big to do. We also had 100 people there... and that was only my immedate family, about 15 members of FH's family and our BP and some friends... (FH's fam lives OOT so many couldn't make it)

it was so worth it though. I loved every minute of it. Yes it was stessful at first but it all came together and we are so glad we had one. Just do one thing at a time. You dont have to rush to have one. If you want a BBQ schedule it for sometime in July or August and just take your time planning it.

HAVE FUN!

my parents gave us the party so we didn't do much.

If you want a bbq its not too much work, just make sure you have access to chairs, or ask people to bring chairs. Make sure you have tables. Then just purchase BBQ items as needed for your guests.

Re: E Party dilemma

i think you can have an eparty that's not stressful..

were doing it at a restaurant, but only bc my mom would make it stressful if it was at our house..i made the invitations, and i put together a candy bar, but other than that im not really having to do anything-we're not doing cps or a dj, and the candy bar is our favor..

It's totally up to you how formal or laid back you'd like to do it. You don't NEED a dj....but it's optional.

I did a Sunday brunch at my dad's country club. I would've been just as happy with a bbq in my backyard, but it was in February, so it was a little too cold out I didn't have a dj, centerpieces, or anything like that. And we only had bridal party, and closest friends and family. We had about 50 people. I didn't even do assigned seating.

Got my invites from vistaprint.com and did the envelopes on my computer. I gave out simple favors, truffles in a plastic jar, and called it a day.

My family didn't help too much, but I also didn't really ask. My father gave me the phone number to the BM at the country club and he and I planned everything via phone and email. My mom helped me with the favors, my sister bought the cake. That was it. Everyone had a great time too - pics in my album.

Again, it's totally up to you. I think a bbq in the backyard with some good food, good drinks, and a radio or Ipod will do the trick too

Re: E Party dilemma

My e-party is totally stress-free and i was not expecting it to be so easy.

Sunday Brunch. everyone knows it is a relaxed afternoon with good friends and good food.
Its going to be 50-80 ppl only close friends and family. No DJ, No assigned seating. We are having it at Old Westbury Gardens and are playing horeshoes and bacci ball! We hired a caterer (who is my dad's friend so that was easy) and he is supplying the chairs, tables tent, place settings, etc.

We picked out invitations in one afternoon. I am waiting for them to be ready and we will mail them out.

You can make yourself crazy, but it is not necessary. Its supposed to be relaxing. We were going to have it at my parents backyard, but i didnt want my mom to have to do with cleaning up after.

we did ours at the inn at new hyde park on a sunday afternoon....it was really nice and great food but not crazy with a dj or nething....we just wanted a chance for all of our families to get togehter...our moms planned the whole thing so fh and i had nothing to do with the planning...we didnt really care whether or not we had an e-party.

i think you can def do something more relaxed...it doesnt need to be a mini-wedding. just do a summer bbq like other gals suggested.

We are just having family together at a local park. My Fututre brother in law is the manager of the park. We ordered food, invites, cake, and a few ballons. It is so much more reasonable then having it at a restaurant.
