E-Party Etiquette Question

E-Party Etiquette Question

My FH is from Seattle, and all of his family live there. We haven't had our e-party (we got engaged in October) because they haven't been out to NY. My FSIL and FBIL will be here the end of May, so I thought maybe we could arrange something then. I would feel really bad about his parents not being there, but I don't know if they'll be out this way before the actual wedding. Is it rude to not have them there? Has anyone skipped having an e-party for this reason?? Thanks in advance!

Re: E-Party Etiquette Question

FH's parents live out of state and they flew up for our eparty. Have you tried talking to them to see if they would be interested in making a trip up for it? otherwise, I dont think it would stop me from having one but I would definately invite them even if they are not able to make it.

I agree with Steph -- talk to them. Maybe they'd fly out for it. FH's family isn't from NY. We had an e-party at my parents' house with tons of my family, and FH's parents, grandparents, and sister flew in for it. You could also consider having two e-parties, one in NY and one in Seattle.

Def talk to them and don't not have one because of this.. I agree with the two parties thing, but that could be expensive.

I agree with this!

FH's family is from WA too, which is why we just skipped the e-party altogether. We visited them after the engagement and they took us out to dinner to celebrate, so I know if we did have a party they wouldn't have felt left out because they still had their chance to celebrate. Are you going over there anytime soon? I think this is something that people are pretty understanding about, when they live far away.

Re: E-Party Etiquette Question

FH's family is from Idaho. and we're having our eparty this summer when he's back from over seas. His family really can't make it out for the eparty and wedding. so we figured we'd just celebrate there when we visit!

definitely still have one if they can't make it, just do something special with them when you're able to visit!!

Thanks for all the good advice! FH's parents are a bit older, so they're really pushing for us to get married now! Haha! They said they'd be glad to fly out if we could make it for May! We'll see what happens!
