E-party gift?

E-party gift?

I'm confused... do you think its a necessity to register for an e-party? My FH family only gives $... it is how they do it in Italy where they were raised. My family gives either $ or gift. Do you think it is necessary for us to register? If people see we are not registered... they will just give $, right? I won't know where to store all the stuff this soon in advance.

Also- (not to sound greedy) Just for curiosity... how much $ do you think we will get per couple as an e-party gift?

we registered for a few things because people asked us to. We got money and gifts. But people bought us gifts that weren't even on our registry.

I ended up registering b/c FH family kept asking me when I was going to register.. So I would just register for a few things b/c you never know who would rather by you a gift.

Same here, FMIL kept bothering me so I registered. People will give you what they want, either a gift or $.

this depends on the type of people. put it this way. FH's family is very overly generous. some gave us like $250 a couple. my family typically gives less about $75 to &100 per couple. All in all we had about 100 people and got $585 in gift cards, over $10,000 in cash and maybe 10 gifts or so.

We registered for our e-party (even though I thought it was unnecessary but some people insisted on buying us gifts)...My mom actually got us a full set of every day utensils (not on the registry) so that was nice. Most of the guests gave money and it varied from $50-150 per person.

We registered for our e-party just so people had the option of not giving money. We ended up getting a lot of great stuff plus some money which I was actually shocked that people did that b/c I was expecting them to get smaller things off our registry.

We ended up getting our toasting flutes & cake cutting set which we didn't even register for and LOVED them. So people will give what they want to give. If you want to register....I say go for it but if you can't decide on the bigger things....register for wedding albums, vases, toasting flutes, cake cutting set, picture frames for your wedding photos...etc...

Plus...it was fun to register!

**FYI- We also did not include on our invite or inside the invitation where we registered b/c we didn't want people to think they had to bring a gift.

We didn't register for our E-party b/c we already live together and have most everything we need. I plan on waiting a few months and registering for the shower/wedding. Both of our families were extremely generous and gave at least $75pp. Some people also think it's tacky to insert in the invitation where you are registered because it looks like they are required to give you a gift.

We didn't register for our E Party. We got pretty much all money, only about 3 gifts which was fine. I didn't want to register because were not going to move in together until the wedding and I didn't want to store all of that stuff until then. We r going to register the end of the year for the shower.

i agree... yikes, that's why i would register for a few things just incase-- some people ask where you are registered like chrissy said and i wouldn't want to risk someone buying some random gift that you are going to have to return rather than giving money. a lot of people in my FH's family give money too (they are from italy also) but a lot of other people still like to GIVE something, they like coming with something wrapped yadda yadda...

so don't register for A LOT of stuff but just some basic essentials so that you don't get screwed with ten different gravy boats lol

a lot of people have been RSVPing to my party (they deadline is June 1st) and people call ALL the time and ask my mom 'WHERE ARE THE REGISTRY CARDS???!!' so my mom tries to explain to them that they are not (usually) put in e-party invites only in BS invites-- and they are like OH, well WHERE are they registered?!! why do people do that?!! lol hahaha meanwhile, if i had put them in which you are technically not supposed to do-- people would have complained that was rude LOL you can't win if you try!!!

Re: E-party gift?

I had my e-party in March - and everyone on FH's side was asking me if i was registering, and I would just politely say that we are registering for the shower .. we wanted money.

Coming from an Italian family, everyone gave me money ... i only got one gift - and it was a gift cert for BBB - from someone that responded no ...
