E-Party Location - good/bad idea? With Poll

E-Party Location - good/bad idea? With Poll

I really would like to have our E-Party at Dave and Busters... that way it's not stuffy and it really is just a celebration of our engagement, not a fancy party where people feel obligated to bring a nice gift. Plus we can invite the kids and they won't be bored...

But every person I tell about it says something along the lines of 'real classy '.

So now I'm unsure... What does everyone think?

TIA!

I know they advertise as doing e-partys and showers so I am sure they would do a nice job!!! It all depends on what you want to do.

My friend actually had her bachorette party there and it was fun. I think it is a great idea! Your wedding will be classy, your e party will be fun!

I'm voting for yes....

although I think it depends on your crowd!

You can make it fun.... acknowledge that it might be cheesy, and run with it! My friend (jennielovesbryan -- an '08 bride) made our 22nd birthday at a bowling alley... complete with 'midnight bowling' (with the lights off, and blacklights on, everything glowing)... she had prizes, goody bags... there was cake and we all had fun

anddd, for FH's 26th birthday (on monday) we went to chelsea pier and played golf, bowled (we ordered pina coladas!) and took silly pictures at a photo booth... and we had a great time.

again, I think it really depends on your crowd... if everyone is up for a good time.. i think it will be lots of fun!

I definitely voted yes. We had a fairly large engagement party thrown for us at the Wantagh fire house. While it was a lot of fun, we didn't really get to enjoy ourselves. We were too busy running around to say hi and all that crap. Although it gave me a good preview of the wedding, lol. I think Dave and Buster's sounds like A LOT of fun, especially if you have a fun crowd.

Definitly that place is sooooo much fun. They also have room you can rent out in the back so you can have it to eat and stuff in and then everyone can go out and play

This is really not the most mature response but those who voted 'No, its tacky' should bend over and take the stick out of their @$$. Just my honest very immature response. Its a celebration and people should have fun ... plus if thats what you and FH want then I say go for it.

We had our company x-mas party there last year and the food was awesome. We had a private room with open bar and then afterwards we went bowling then played games. We all had a blast.

I think it is awesome!

It will be fun and if it fits both your personalities, DO IT

PS - I was just at D&B in Farmingdale and they have a gorgeous private room where the Habachi tables used to be.

Its all about what you want. No matter where you are going to have it their is always going to be people who love it and hate it. If you want it their then go for it.

Our e-party was in a restaurant that DH and I loved. It wasn't really the typical spot and we had to pay regular prices for everything [no catering menu]...but we loved the place [special to us] and knew it would be fun and relaxed. Everyone LOVED it as well!

We were very close to booking there for either our e-party or RD. I say go for it!! People will have opinions on wherever you go.

I'm good thanks, I'll keep the stick right where it is...

Anyway, I did vote no, but to be honest, I did not because I think it's 'tacky' but more so it wouldn't be my style. I understand wanting a fun 'non-stuffy' e-party. You can achieve that w/o having to go to Dave 'n Busters. You could have a back yard pig roast or clam bake. Both very laid back options. I also think having it in a place like DnB can cause problems for people with young children. I know if I were a parent, I wouldn't feel comfortable with letting my kid go off and play on their own there. In this day and age that's just not very safe. So now I'm following my kid (or kids) around at DnB and I don't get to enjoy my friend/relative's e-party. That's no fun. So in your attempt to make it enjoyable for not only the adults but also the kids, you're almost making it more difficult. Also, would you supply tokens for the kids to play the games or would the parents of the kids have to? This maybe something to consider too... If I'm invited to an e-party, I'm gonna bring a gift. That's just the way I am, now I've got to pay for my kids to play at DnB. I don't know, I just don't see that idea working out very well.

Again, I totally get your wanting a party that is fun and laid back. I just think DnB may not be the way to go.

There's my 'not so immature' opinion...
