Well, ours is 3/14, and yes, we are having a DJ/. The first hour or so, probably just backround music while people eat, drink, and mingle. Then after the alchol kicks in, hopefully the dancing will kick in!!

BUT ,y mom insisted on the DJ because she felt people might get bored after awhile. HTH.

Re: e-party question

I am not having one bc I am only having a cocktail party. I am bringing an ipod with an ihome and a sub from my computer so thre will be music and it will be loud enough for people to here.

I''ve never really been to an eparty where people danced it was more of a mix and mingle thing

We weren't sure about having a DJ either. We are having a casual BBQ E-Party and are torn about a DJ...it will probably end up coming down to the cost...

I think it depends on the location of your eparty, if its like a sit-down restaurant thing, I would get a DJ. But if its your backyard, I don't think its necessary, hooking up your ipod will be just fine.

Also, my eparty was at a vineyard, I didn't have a DJ b/c most people were getting to know each other, we had about 100 people. Or they were at the playground or walking through the vineyard grounds........

So I think it really depends on location.

Re: e-party question

we had an eparty at the inn at new hyde park with a cocktail hour and dinner...but it was a small party (like 50 ppl) so we did not do a dj. Everyone was mingling etc so i don't think anyone was sitting around bored.

we had abotu 60 ppl in a restaurant. the restaurant had some low music playing over the speakers, but that was it. we had open bar (wine and beer) and people seemed fine just chit-chatting and talking. it was on a sunday afternoon 1-5pm, so it went over well.

i dont feel we missed anything.

we had a small e party after fh proposed he had told everyone and his parents kind of surprised us with a little party my dad was the dj hehe! he is awesome he used to work at a radio station back in my country and he has a cool dj system!! so i didn't have to worry about music

edited: I just think if you hook up a nice playlist on your ipod it would be good enough

Re: e-party question

forgot to mention that it was a sunday afternoon thingy...and the room was small and intimate so i dont think a dj was necessary in our case

thats basically how mine is going to be

its about 60 people in a restaurant on a sunday afternoon

they have a self play piano in the room that plays Billy Joel, Elton John and the Beatles, so i thought that would be really unique and cool cuz my family loves all those people!!!

i am worried tho about people getting bored of just sitting and eating....

anyone have ideas for things to do to keep it lively??

so far i know my dads giving a toast, im introducing the bridal party (we got them all Team Bride and Team Groom pins), we have advice cards that everyone will fill out and mom made a pretty card box to put them in, and we're having an engagement pic matted and using the matte as a signing board

i want to set the tables up so there is an open area not with tables, im hoping thats where people can just stand/walk around, mingle n chat...i hate when people feel they have to be glued to their seats..

any recommendations for anything else? anyone doing any games/activities?

i looked up games myself but i didn't see anything good. one involved taping an index card to the back of each person and having each person meet each other and write their 'first impressions' of that person on their card.... i was like uhhhh no lol

Re: e-party question

we had a DJ. it was included in our pp price. but we had it at a place that had a dancefloor so it kinda fit.
the only game we did was to auction off our CP's (they were real fish in a bowl). we taped a scratch off ticket under 1 chair at each table and whoever sat there got the CP.

oh and FH and i made up trivia cards of 'How Well Do You Know The Future Mr. & Mrs.?' they were multiple choice questions with the answers on the back and we just left them on the table in a business card holder for people to read while they ate or at their leisure.

We had our friend DJ and he played some music and we were all up and dancing by the time the party ended...

We had like 100 plpl at a catering hall and got a DJ...it definitely was worth it...everyone was dancing the entire night and it just made it more fun...it does depend on when/ where you're having it though..

Re: e-party question

we had 2 games but only wound up doing one.

the 1 we did (i cant remember the other!!) was a scratch off ticket that i made. if the person matched the two pictures they won. we had DVDs as prizes (the movie went with our popcorn-movie theme).

we had 2 dvd's...one for kids/teens and the other for older people. so depending on who won, we gave them the more appropriate DVD. we bought whatever was on sale that week at walmart
