e-party question... PLEASE HELP

Hi Ladies,

SO- everything else with planning the wedding has been a breeze and it apears that we have reached our first road block- Thank you in advance for reading this post and helping me out!

Originally, we had planned for a summer e-party in my backyard... tent, professional bar-b-qer, dance floor, dj... ect.

NOW- my father's saying that with the amount of $ we are going to put into our backyard, we might as well have it at a place and leave the headaches to someone else. MY QUESTION IS... If you had an e-party, where did you have it and if you wouldn't mind, how much did it cost??? Either per person or all together? I'm trying not to go too crazy cuz we're looking at about 150-175 people.

We are having ours at Verdi's of Westbury on March 29 [Saturday Night]. We are doing a buffet not a sit down. They just renovated the room we are in and it looks great. We are paying $75pp after tax and grat. All in all, with the DJ hall and everything we are spending $15k on the eparty. We are having 135 people.

We were in the same situation you are in. We were going to have it at home, but I wanted it in March so it's cold and I really didn't want my mom or dad to have to worry about everything at their house.

Well because our guest list for the wedding is at about 220 people... we decided that we didn't want to spend too much on an e party so we opted for a RESTAURANT........ and made it only immediate family and bridal party/closest friends.... so we are probably going to end up with maybe 60 being there.....

we had ours outdoors, under a tent, catered food, dj, dancefloor, we did beer wine and soda...i dont know exactley how much it cost but i know it was a little over 6K - we did the favors and centerpieces ourselves, set up tiki torches all around the tent - it was nice....our FILS helped us pay for the party....there are pictures in my album - we did this at our favorite place in staten island (we live there) by the verazano bridge.....

We are having it at the irish American club. (I am Italian not Irish) It is a hall but you pay for the space not per person. It holds about 120 and drinks are an extra couple of dollars per adult. We are getting the food from an Italian rest.

Here's what my e-party was like...

There was about 35 people here at my parents house (where I still live) the first weekend of October (got engaged Aug 22). It was strictly just the immediate family.... parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and godparents. FH and I were hosting the party. FH and I took care of half of the cooking and my parents took care of the rest. We had appetizers, drinks, dinner (4 dishes and sides) and dessert. Besides celebrating our engagement it was also so both sides could meet (my parents have only met his mom and that was it). And that was it. We didn't need a tent (thanks to an awning over the patio). We didn't need a dj or any of the fancy stuff. It was just to get the family together and enjoy a nice meal although we did receive some very thoughful gifts which we appreciate very much but didn't expect. I didn't want to go all crazy with the engagement party. This is just my opinion but with all the other things related to the wedding, I find it unnecessary to have a mini wedding before the real wedding. So, the whole thing might have only cost a few hundred dollars but we have lots of pics and great memories of that day. It was everything I wanted.

I had mine at CLM for about 150 people, fh's family is HUGE we only invited his aunts, uncles and first cousins and a few very close family friends and that was about 80 ppl just for his family alone lol then bp a few other close friends and my families side. The food was amazing and the room is gorgeous. They did such a great job. I FM'ed you price which includes full open bar, and the price is great. At first i wanted something a bit different not a catering hall but it was coming out to more money to rent a place plus catering, drinks, decor and everything else. A house was not a possibility for us since there were so many people, and we live in queens so no HUGE backyards lol. SO i finally gave in and did a catering hall.

Pics of e-party at CLM in my album

OK- we talked more about the e-party and decided that... we are going to have it @ the house after all... Possibly without a tent though- dad says that if with the $ we save on a tent, we'll get lobster tails instead!!!! Sounds good to me! Thank you for your help though

I agree w/u. It should be immediate family and bridal party so that everyone could meet each other. The party should be for the wedding only

We really can't afford to have a big party so we are going to have a bbq in the backyard. My friends had a blast last year at my bbq they swam in the pool, relaxed in the hottub so that's my plan.... plus we always look for reasons to have bbq over the summer.
