Re: e-party seating
We did seating b/c we wanted people to be able to sit with their friends/family and not be broken up. It was more work, but worth it for us. We had about 62 people. We sat at a table with our parents and siblings and put grandmothers at tables with the extended family and BP w/ friends and younger cousins. (our age). We didnt have an option of siting at our own table though and our room was wierd with al different size tables so it was really hard to do tables. It worked out well in the end though.
Re: e-party seating
We are doing our e-party (this sunday!!) very causal...no seating arrangements...everyone can just sit where they want...I think it will be ok if you decide not to do seating charts.
Re: e-party seating
we had 150 guests so we had to do arranged seating and yes we sat at our own table
Re: e-party seating
We didn't have placecards at our e-party, and regret the decision. Its the only thing we would have done differently about that day!
Re: e-party seating
we had open seating. there was a table reserved for the two of us but we never sat down!
Re: e-party seating
we didnt have placecards, it was more of an open house feel, everybody could walk around and sit where they wanted to, it worked out great
Re: e-party seating
Me and FH sat at our own table and we had seating arrangements for everyone else. it's just easier that way
Re: e-party seating
we are doing placecards

Re: e-party seating
I would say that it depends on how formal you want your party to be. For ours, we chose not to have assigned seating because we wanted a more relaxed atmosphere. We figured that would be best since we were just having a buffet dinner and pretty much the only time people would be sitting would be when they brought their plates back to the table... the rest of the time people were up dancing and mingling. There were no toasts/speeches/etc that people would have to be seated for. Most of the party worked out the way we figured it would anyway- family tables, work tables, etc. A bunch of our friends met for the 1st time at the party and were great company for each other at their tables, introducing themselves making a group for a table all on their own.I had maybe 1 or 2 tables of people who chose to add more chairs to their tables than we had set up the tables for, which we didnt care that they did, but then it left some tables with less chairs so those tables werent totally filled up, but there was nothing we could do about that. Everyone at the larger tables wouldnt have been able to sit together, had we done assigned seating. So while my tables didnt wind up looking the way I had set them up with enough favors for the original number of seats, etc, it all worked out. Had I had a more formal affair with plated entrees, I would have gone with assigned seating.
Re: e-party seating
we invited 168 people to the e-party and so far only 5 couples/families said no so Yes we are doing seating arangements ... and yes we have our own table me and FH.
