E-Party -- to have or not to have

E-Party -- to have or not to have

As you all know by now...I'm the social butterfly of my family

Do I need to make it as fancy as the wedding? Can it just be at a restaurant? Can I have a DJ there?

And most importantly, do you think it's worth it to have one or do you feel it's just a waste of money?

I figure since FH wants to keep the wedding small and simple, I could have my way and have a kick *** e-party.

Thoughts/opinions/ideas GREATLY appreciated!

theres many different styles for e-parties do whatever is best for you, whats good for you isn't for others so pick the kind of party you want, there are no rules

i did not have an elaborate party, it was just immediate family (about 40 of us) at a local restaurant by me. it was super fun! my parents threw it for us, i didnt even know we were having one LOL

I agree, plus it was a ton of fun and really got us into the spirit of weddings! It was really fun to see both of our families so excited for us too!!

I did not and will not have one - seems most girls on here do - am I the only one?

Im not having a huge e-party. Just keeping it immediate family. Its more of a dinner get together then a party. Just having it a restaurant, no dj or photographers or anything fancy like that. E-partys can sometimes be like mini weddings! I dont want people getting upset and feeling like they have to give another gift. Im saving all the special things for my big day ( the wedding!)

i had an e-party at a small catering hall with a dj and it was a blast...we tried to keep it pretty simple b/c the wedding will be extravagant enough

i say have an e-party and have fun!!

we had a luncheon at an italian restaurant with a little under 100 people. we will probably have 200-250 at our wedding.

we had cake, small favors (truffles), balloon centerpieces, etc but no band, florist, photographer (other than friends/family with digital cameras).

I wanted to avoid the mini-wedding alternative and felt this was a happy medium.

Thanks everyone. I definitely want to avoid having a mini-wedding. But can you girls believe that after 12 years our families have never met? So maybe an e-party would be a nice way for everybody to meet???

we had our eparty in the backyard. It was totally casual. t shirts and shorts...i didnt want to have a fancy one (not that my family would have thrown it...) because it is the eparty NOT a wedding...just my opinion!

We are still debating about having one and if we do we are going to have it in the late spring so we can have in the backyard, BBQ and very casual!

You are not the only one. I am not having an E-Party. Mainly because no one has offered to throw one for us, and I don't want to pay for it myself. FH and I might do something at a bar in the city with just friends and my siblings.

In an effort to save money and simply for FMIL to meet more of my family, I am keeping mine small. Im having it at my house and FH and I are paying for it. We are getting it catered and will probably just order a cake, nothing fancy. Its however you want to do it and whatever will make both you and FH comfortable.

Glad I am not solo on this. FH and I thought about something at a bar but now that so much time has passed we figured we can do without it. We had so many weddings to attend in the last couple if months that we just never got around to it and now the holidays are coming so maybe we just open another bottle of champagne and celebrate solo
