I've heard great things about Public. A friend's company had their holiday party there and she said the food was wonderful. Candela's nice, but since Public's a bit smaller and hasn't been around for too long, maybe it'll be 'newer' for people?

I didn't really like the food at Public, but it is really nice. Haven't been to Candela. I see the look you're going for, have you ever been to Crispo? It's on W14th. My friends and I always said that the back area is perfect for an engagement party. The reviews are mixed, but I've always been happy.
just curious though, what didn't you like about public?

I've been to brunch a bunch of times at Public and have always liked it. Nice atmosphere, and there's definitely a private feeling in some of the rooms.

i LOVE public. kind of hard to compare that with candela - i assume they're different price ranges. candela is great though public is a lot of fun over the weekends. how large of a crowd do you have? how old are they? i'd say that candela is better for a family. i don't think i've ever seen a kid in public at night.

This is just for friends as I'm doing separate things with family. ABout 20 people, mostly ranging from 25-29 in age.

thanks! I'll check it out.

I was there only once about 2 years ago and I didn't like what I had, but for my life I can't remember what it was. From reading what everyone else says, it sounds like I might have just chosen the wrong thing. But again, it is a really nice place.

Definitely go with Public. It has a great bar scene too and you can always continue the party after dinner.

I was actually at Thor a few weekends ago for my b'day- the spot is very, very cool. I didn't try the food - we were mostly in the bar area, but it seemed like a fantastic spot to have a party!
