Uhm, ok... so after some decisions- the e-party is going to be @ mi casa. BUT we are still gonna need to rent some things to make it look pretty and we are having it catered. Add alittle decor and we're looking at aprox. 6-7,000... who pays for this shindig? I think it should be split by both set of parents if god wiling... AM I WRONG???? I would love to know b/c I'm talking to FH about this on the ride to Jericho Terrace tomorrow for the show- it'll take us at least an hour...

i dunno who really pays for it. If anyone is willing, let them! haha. FH and i have to pay for it ourselves, which is a big hole in our pocket! I just think all my friends and family together is going to be a blast, so its worth it.

Thats one of the main reasons we arent having one. We figured that money could go to a much better cause for our wedding!!

Serendipity we paid for it ourselves....... But we must warn you that although you do not invite people for the gift we got a lot of cheapies that did not even pay for their plate! You must beware when having it someplace, we had some couples that gave us $50 gift cards that did not at all cover their plates and they were close family and friends! We were quite shocked!!!!

But it was all worth it in the end b/c our goal was to enjoy our engagement! And the party was a blast!!! We had such a great time together!!!

btw - you can have it somewhere less expensive. we didn't rent out a hall and have a mini wedding. we had a sit-down luncheon at a great italian restaurant (rented out the place) with awesome food, and it was lots of fun! inexpensive centerpieces, cake, music through their speaker system, cute favors, and it wasn't nearly that expensive for ~ 100 people.

FH and I are paying for it ourselves but wy parents offered. They were willing to pay for a small eparty but since we wanted to have something larger and at a hall Chris and I decided that we would pay for it ourselves. Although we are hoping to make some of it back we are completely ok if we don't cause the main reason for the party is to celebrate our engagement

FH and I decided not to have one... my mother initially wanted to have one and pay for it herself, but we decided it was too much of a hassle and she'd make it too stressful for us. i think normally the families pay, but i'm not sure
We paid for ours, my mom helped out a lot because when she would go out she would buy stuff for the party, and she did the cooking for 100 people.

my fils have volunteered to hold it in their backyard since its so nice, and my parents are going to help make food. and both sets of parents are going to buy decorations. not one person is paying for it, which i like. both sets of parents want to contribute so it worked out for us

Both of our parents are paying for it, but we are having a small one at my house. It's just going to be family and our bridal party, because we cant fit everyone in my house.(It's in April, so hopefully it will be warm enough for people to go in and out of the house) My mom and his mom are cooking and so are some of our aunt's to help out, and they are working togeather on getting the decorations and wine and beer. So hopefully it all works our well.
