We didnt want one either. Can you maybe just do a dinner/cocktail party? and not a big event?

i think it's nice that they're excited and want to celebrate.
can you comprimise and do a small dinner? like immediate family only?

we arent having one. we toyed with the idea but i feel like the money can be spent elsewhere. plus...we went out for dinner with close friends. i think thats good enough.

A small cocktail party would be nice

I'm sure you'll make more money from the engagment party than you invest...so it will help you with paying for the wedding.

this is the number one reason my mom keeps using to have it
i dont think we have a choice so at this point I am gonna suggest something small and intimate.

We didn't do an e-party either and I still don't regret it.

We didnt want anything, but my mom insisted they at least throw a little something. So we did it at a local resturant and just invited immediate family and bridal party. We made some $$$$ which was nice and helping to pay for the RH.
