How long after you were engaged did you or are you having your engagement party? My BF was engaged 2 weeks ago and her FMIL-zilla is planning it for the 19th and is asking for CASH gifts

I was engaged Oct. 28th and we had our engagement party Feb. 10th. We didnt straight ask for cash, but when people asked if we were registered we said we werent since the wedding was so far away.

we were engaged on July 3rd and our e-party is September 16th. we wanted to have an outdoor party for our engagement - we already knew the place we wanted it before we were even engaged, but that is because it happens to be 'our spot' and we have been going there since we met so its very sentimental.

We got engaged April 30, 2006 and had out party August 5th 2006.
I didn't know I was going to have this long of an engagement...I think I would have waited a little longer to have the party...plus FMIL had pushed it on us ...big mistake!

now i feel like we're waiting too long... We got engaged in march, and we're having it in January... is that like way too long? My parents arent coming up to new york until then (as of right now) so thats when i can have it.
