thanks to everyone for your opinions! We went with the lighter blue polo shirt.
We just got back from doing the pictures. It was actually a lot of fun, more so than I anticipated. Tom (of Thomas Paul Photography) was very nice, and I really appreciated how accommodating he was - we had to change location last minute because of the rain, so he adapted to doing pictures inside my parents' house, and got really creative with locations and poses in the house - I was pretty impressed.
I'll post some pics when we get them back from him! He showed us some on the view window on his camera, and they look like they're going to be great!

If you go with the blue shirt I think he should wear either the green polo or the blue shirt with the stripe at the top...if you wear the red one then put him in that white shirt. I don't like how red and blue look together...you two are cute...good luck tonight!

i wouldn't put him in blue if you are wearing blue. You need contrast between the two of you otherwise youll blend too much, especially when holding eachother.
How about he wear a white shirt

If you are wearing blue, I'd put him in the hawaiian-ish shirt just because it has a tad of blue in it and you wont look like carbon copies of each other, but it will still match

he doesn't have a white shirt, other than undershirts, which won't work.
this is pretty much what he has, as we don't have time to go shopping. He's a cop, so he doesn't need nice clothes for work, so it's either this or the crappy t-shirts he wears around on weekends to go biking in and shluff around.

just be careful with blue, bc blue doesn't match with other blue colors...light blue and dark blue for example don't match

no, it's a pale blue... maybe it's your screen? doesn't look white on mine... either way, it's a pale blue.

I see the pale blue one, but theres a white one next to the pale blue, has a stripe by the chest area with some red design and the stripe is orange...are there 2 blue shirts you put one next to the other? I would go with the lighter one

one of the bottom two polos. I would bring both and have him try them on next to you and then decide.

You should wear the blue shirt and he should wear the green polo, they will compliment each other and are a little more dressed up but at the same time casual.
