Okay, so my engagement shoot is coming up next weekend - and I'm NERVOUS!
I love pictures, but I feel like I am sooooo unphotogenic (my FH feels the same).
So we're scheduled to go up to New York State Renaissance Faire, meet our photographer and take photos around the fair playing around - kissinging, kneeling, etc.
Does anyone have advice for the slightly camera shy who feels the camera hates them?
- My photographer wants to shoot the late afternoon - I'm afraid after being outdoors in the summer heat all day, walking around - I'll look like a hot mess. Literally. Anyone face something similar?
- We're in garb - but anything I should think about color wise? I heard prints aren't the greatest?

Ive been worried about what to wear about mine too so ive been looking this up online.
They say stay away from print because in 50 years the print may be out of style. But honestly, you are wearing garb! It goes with the scenery! I say dont worry about print because it flows with the environment.
As far as color, wear something that is truly you. If you love pink or blue or yellow, do it up!

Trust. I feel the same way and I can also see a difference in my pics at the beginning to the ones at the end. I felt like you could really tell when I was comfortable. The only thing you can do is trust your photog. He/she will know the best way to shoot. I hope you post a couple bc I would love to see!!

Have fun with it. If you take it too seriously or think about it too much it's going to look forced and you're pictures will reflect it.
As for the heat, maybe you should have clothes to wear before the pictures. I'm always hot so I purposely didn't wear my cardigan the whole ride to my shoot location. Bring your makeup bag so you can powder your nose and you'll be fine.
As for WHAT you're wearing, wear something that reflects you. Prints and colors don't matter. I think you're engagement pictures should tell a story about the point you're at now in your lives together. It shouldn't be about what you're going to think about it ten years from now.
Just try and relax. You'll be fine. Good luck.

You know - I wasn't looking at it that way...
I have a gorgeous teal/gold skirt I made from what was intended to be sari fabric, but I made it in the style of a full bellydancers skirt, so its really princessy - and I happen to LOVE it.
Now I'm going to have to grab my tote of Renaissance faire clothes/garb and play dress up.

I promise to post a few!
We're going up to the Renaissance Faire that day also to celebrate a close friend's birthday, so I'm sure we'll be partying all day.

It should be so much fun! Late afternoon is actually the best lighting for pictures so they should look so nice :)

I think you should wear something that reflects who you are as a couple. Just have fun with it and be yourselves!! Are you going for just the day? I was thinking maybe you could get a hotel room and then you can hang out all day and then a little bit before the photographer comes you can go back to the room and shower and freshen up. I know I cant take pictures in the heat cause I get frizzy hair and turn bright red....super sexy lol
