I couldn't agree more with you on the investment comment, Sassy. I honestly don't understand when people consider their e-ring an 'investment'.
But I do think she could do better with her money if she just researched a little more instead of just buying this ring b/c it's within her budget for the sake of having a ring.

I couldnt agree more!!! With a bit more research, she can def find a better diamond for her budget. But she wasnt sure and wanted an honest opinion if it was good or not.

Hmmm. When i was looking at diamonds i saw a J and it looked yellow to me. I think if i were you i would lessen the carat amount and get a better quality diamond!

I definitely saw color in H,I,J compared to a colorless diamond. If all you care about is size... then thats what you will have to get.
But you are better off getting something thats better quality.
Check out diamond.com
Thats where I got my FW's .

Re: e-ring experts..need opinions
An I2 is the next to lowest clarity grade. You WILL see inclusions with the naked eye. And an I color grading is on the low end of the 'near colorless' scale, so chances are it'llbe closer to a J than it would be to an F or a G. Depending on your sensitivity to color you may or may not notice the yellow.
The link above to pricesope is wrong. This is the correct link PRICESCOPE.COM
According to pricescope, a diamond with those specs would be anywhere from $960-$1850/ct depending on other factors such as cut quality and flourescence.
Don't know what kind of setting you're getting but in most cases, when you buy a loose diamond, they'll give you a plain yellow or white gold for free.
While you may not see this as an investment, if you're going in with a budget of $2000, you definately want the best quality for your money, so I'd research as much as you can first. DIAMONDTALK.COM is another good place for these kinds of questions.

to be TOTALLY honest, it is not a good deal nor (based on the stats) is it a good stone.
1 - the 3 most reputable and well known labs are the GIA, AGS, and EGL. this is what you should be looking for when researching diamonds.
2 - I2 is the second to lowest clariity grade. the inclusions WILL be noticeable and obvious to the naked eye. they can also diminish the stones brilliance and potentially affect the stones durability
3 - although an I-J, is categorized as near colorless. there is a definite and obvious yellow tint to the stone.
i agree w/ the above posted and strongly suggest that you search price scope. not only can you search for diamonds based on a desired criteria, the site also offers a diamond knowledge area.
you girls are awesome thanks for all the input :) i definitly have ring fever but im not willing to settle either cause i wanna get my moneys worth even if it is only 1000 bucks lol..i m so glad u girls r good at this cause to me it is confusing!! i saw a ring at a store for 1800, princess cut solitaire and F quality!! so im def. not settling! im just trying to compare..to see what i want..i would def. have slightly smaller with much better quality then ahuge stone with flaws. thanks again!!

Re: e-ring experts..need opinions
also, keep in mind that the cut is THE MOST important factor to consider. although one might have a D IF stone, if the cut grade is poor it will not be as brillant as a G VS1 stone that has an ideal cut.

i have also been told that a round diamond... you will get more for your money because it is more common as where a princess cut or pear shaped are not soooo common and might be a bit more pricey... hope that helps

that is TOTALLY false. rounds are actually more $$$ than a princess, pear, radiant, emerald, marquis, and an oval. the reason being is that the round is the most brillant cut.

I disagree. Every place we went the princess cut, radiant and emerald was more $$$ than the round. Even in the wedding bands the were MUCH more $$$ than the round cuts

I went to (this is definately not all): pretty much all of the jewelers in the malls, Bunty's jewelers, Commack Jewelry exchange, The diamond district, And a private jeweler (and trusted friend of the family)..who all said the same thing. I dunno...? Whatever...

I know your not trying to be rude...neither am i. I just heard different. But i didn't do an extensive search i basically went to the malls just to look at styles and types of rings i liked and then went to our jeweler for my ring. SO that is what i found. But you seem to know more

Re: e-ring experts..need opinions
MY FH went to someone that only sells diamonds.... he gets them from overseas and he said the majority of the time round you get more for your money because they are more common... there are more around because the demand is higher
just what i have been told i don't necessarily know... maybe people have different information doesn't matter to me because i love what i have!

Re: e-ring experts..need opinions
You don't mention some important diamond info florescence? quality of cut? table if round? color and clarity are not the only considerations I don't think you are being ripped off
Just keep in mind that it is difficult to trade in diamonds that are less than SI1 in clarity. I'm not saying you should trade it is but many people factor that into their decision.
