Re: E-ring Insurance
AIG- They were the best...a lot of Insurance Companies have a lot of clauses like if it's lost in a foreign country, in a hotel or a different state they will not replace it or if it is stolen. AIG is pricier but, totally worth the piece of mind to know that it's insured under most circumstances. You have to really do your research and find someone you trust.

Jewelers Mutual. I did it all over the internet on their website. It was so easy. I scanned my appraisal and emailed it to them. It was also pretty reasonable priced..at least I thought it was. I am pretty sure they give you a free quote instantly, so you will know how much it is before you sign up. HTH

Re: E-ring Insurance
Believe it or not, the cheapest option would be to add it to a homeowners policy.
My renters insurance was $160 a year before I added my ring. When I called to get my ring added, they said ok $430. I was ok with it but almost died when they told me it was $430 MORE a year meaning that my engagement ring costs more to insure than EVERYTHING else I own combined! They did proceed to tell me that if I owned a home and had homeowners insurance, it would be a lot cheaper. Yeah, thanks for that.
So I decided to investigate stand alone ring policies, and they were working out to be so much more expensive.....

You really should get homeowners insurance. And I'd add your ring to that.

Re: E-ring Insurance
You should def get homeowner's ins....but most car insurance policies have all types of ins. FH and I added renter's ins, and my ring to our car ins company/policy!

Jewelers Mutual! They are great! I use them for all my jewelry and they even cover the piece if it gets lost, most companies only cover damage or theft. Oh, and you can use any jeweler, you don't have to use people of a list of approved jewelers which is what most other insurance companies make you do but don't openly disclose.

Re: E-ring Insurance
I still have to get mine insured. FH has to fax the docs from when he purchased my ring to my parents insurance agent. I am putting it under my parents homeowners since we do not own anything yet!
