I still have not insured my ring & FH is ready to have my head. I really need to get on this. Apparently it can not be added to the type of insurnace my parents have at home. So I was advised to take out a renters policy & to cover our apartment & my ring it will cost $789.00 a year. My ring is $514.00 of it. Opinions please?? Do you think its worth it??

YYYESSSSSS, you should have renter's insurance anyway!!
But do shop around for rates. I got some very different quotes. Mine wound up being about $450 a year for the ring and apt, but I live alone and i'm still in school, so I might not be insuring as much as you. Def do it though!

Re: e-ring insurance
this is how we have ours too...we got renters insurance and added the ring to it. I dont remember how much we pay per year...but I think its worth it. Just gives me peace of mind that if something happens to my ring it is covered.
Thanks for the recomendation. I already checked & it will come out to the same amount for my ring. It may be worth paying the little extra & then everything else we own is covered too

Re: e-ring insurance
I dont have insurance on my e-ring. I probably should considering its a very expensive ring (its an heirloom, belonged to FH's grandmother, silver platinum band).
I make sure to take it off each night before bedtime and don't go into a pool or shower wearing it. Also, I don't travel long distances w/ it on. This way, less chance of something happening to it.

You never know. My mom was putting dishes away in the kitchen and banged her hand against the cabinets. the setting was loose and she didn't know and the diamond fell down the drain. No insurance. She was sooooo upset.

Re: e-ring insurance
That sounds incredibly high! My homeowners is that much! When we had renters insurance, it was around $220/year. Then I took out an additional personal property insurance for my ering and it costs $125/year, it is insured up to $15,000.
Its absolutely worth it to insure but that quote is high, I would shop around.

Re: e-ring insurance
we have co-op insurance thru allstate and added the ring to the policy....it ended up being the best deal. i think the ring insurance comes out to about $700 per yr but its worth it bc I wear mine everywhere and dont have to worry

I take mine off when I get home. My concern is because I commute to work on the train everyday. As careful as I am there are some crazies out there.

Re: e-ring insurance
Mine is insured under our home owners insurance but even when I got a quote from Jewlers Mutual they still wanted $1000/year for the policy. I think you'll see a small difference from place to place but nothing huge.
ETA: Be sure to ask what it covers though. Some home owners policies won't insure it outside of the home unless you add that to the policy. Without that addition mine would have been a lot less.

Re: e-ring insurance
it's definitely worth it - HUGE peace of mind. Our insurance went up $600 when we added a rider for my e-ring.
