Ok so I know that diamond prices can be so different, i was just curious if anyone thinks the prices I got are too high or okay....
At Karat shop... was quoted $7500 for a princess cut diamond, with diamond setting.... diamond is 1.51 carats and the setting is .50 - total of like 2.00 carats..... the diamond wasn't top notch - i would say middle of the road
I checked a jeweler at tri-county which my family has known for a long time, and for a similar ring - decent diamond 1.40 carat, and also a diamond channel setting, he quoted me $6200
Are those good prices or $$$$
We are clueless with diamond shopping!
Help! Just curious that we are getting good prices or if we should keep looking!
thanks!

Re: E-Ring pricing....
I would really have to see the quality of the diamond to be able to answer that. When I went to Good Old Gold for my e-ring they gave me a chart of the prices that diamonds are going for right now, which was extremely helpful. They also went over all the factors as to what makes one diamond more than another, as well as settings. You need to go to someone you trust who will sit down with you and explain all of this. Good luck!

We would really need specifics on the quality of the diamond in order to tell you if you were getting ripped off or not.

Re: E-Ring pricing....
when you do get the specifics of the diamond....color, cut, clarity etc, compare prices on blue niles website. They have a build your own ring tool that you can put all the specifics in and get prices.

Re: E-Ring pricing....
$6200 seems pretty low for a 1.4 carat diamond. that may reflect the quality of the diamond, or it just may be a ridiculous price.

ITA. I would get all the information (the 4c's), and then report back and we'll tell you what we think! Don't make a purchase without knowing EXACTLY what you're getting!

Re: E-Ring pricing....
your pricing for such a large diamond seems very low. is it in yellow gold? white gold? platinum? i would suspect that the quality of the stone is less than desirable to have such a price tag. usually anything over about 1.1/1.2 karats jumps significantly in cost.
Maybe go to a higher end jewlery just for comparison. Gross in Garden City is fantastic just to get a sense. Very reputable and prices are extremely fair!

Re: E-Ring pricing....
I agree with the other ladies just going by diamond size those prices seem very low as in so low somethings weird. For an example my center diamond is 1.14 carats and was about $9,000.Someone could get the same exact size diamond and pay less if they color or clarity are lower. To further analyze it you really have to get the specifics on the diamond.

Crashing... that seems really low for a 1.4/1.5 carat diamond. What are the color and clarity for those stones? That will make a huge difference in price.

Re: E-Ring pricing....
Like a lot of people have said so far it seems low for the size of the stone. You need to decide what is more important to you quality or size.

Re: E-Ring pricing....
put the same thing into bluenile.com and theyll tell you how much they would price things and bluenile is average if not better prices so its good to compare by

Re: E-Ring pricing....
UPDATE..... I went to Gennaro's in Bellmore today to check out rings! OMG they are amazing! What a difference from Karat shop, Tri county and Gennaro! I heard nothing but good things about them, and i can see why!
The guy I spoke to said for me to come back with my boyfriend so he can sit with us and explain in detail the way to buy a diamond! He was not pushy at all, and actually didn't seem like someone who wanted a quick sale!
Basically told me that we need to pick the diamond first and then pick the setting! I am going back with my BF on Thursday :) WISH ME LUCK!!!
thanks ladies......
