E-Ring Problem

E-Ring Problem

I just noticed today that my E-ring band is bent. When I say bent it looks as if I dropped it and then stepped on it. I cant imagine what happenend. Its platinum, and I thought platinum is indestructible, I guess I am wrong. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm pretty sure platinum is a soft metal. But I have a platnium ring and its never bent, not even a tiny bit. I think your best bet is to take it to another jeweler and have it appraised and make sure that it is actually platinum and not yellow glod dipped in white gold or something like that. Good luck :)

I was thinking it may not be platinum. My FH got it at a very reputable jeweler. And he has a contract that says platinum. So it better not be white gold.

I think it is a softer metal, but I am not sure. Although there is nothing wrong with white gold ( ), I do see where you would be concerned. I had a beautiful ring that my father gave me that got bent from just grabbing a railing, believe it or not. I would bring it to a jewler to get fixed and appraised (just to make sure).

My ring is platinum (been appraised) and has bent and has a few scratches on the part facing inward. The reason mine bent a lil was because it was a bit too small....its easily remidied most likely at no charge

Mine is platinum too and that hasn't happened but maybe its because I walk with my hand literally in the air and take it off when I am doing anything that may ruin it.

Yeah I'm a little too obsessed.

Platinum is a very soft metal, that's probably why it gets scraches and dings.

My ring is platinum and although it hasn't bent is does have scratches because it is a soft metal. Take it to be appraised first and if it is platinum I'm sure it can be fixed.

I went to the jeweler today and she said that this does happen to platinum since it is a soft metal. They are going to fix it for me.

Was it too big for your finger- platinum is a harder metal than gold- but its still very soft when compared with industrial metals like iron and steel. If you bring it to your jeweler they will be able to reshape it in two minutes- just make sure they check the diamonds to see that they're still tight in the setting. Trust me I' m a gemologist- I am curious to know if the ring was too big on you to begin with though.
