So my brother's significant other is pregnant and due a little bit before my wedding. Up until today, my brother was just oging to be bringing my neice and nephew and leave her and the new baby home for the wedding, but now he just said that he's hoping they all can come!! How soon after giving birth can you fly???

I don't think there is a time frame you have to wait. I think after the dr. releases you after the six week check up you should be fine.

I would tell her to speak to her on/gyn. my co-worker just told me that when she had her c-section she wan't allowed to drive for the first couple of wks. She said with a v-birth it will probablly be okay. But she recommends speaking to the dr.

driving and flying are 2 completely different things...i've never received advice on flying. i'd have her ask her dr. and it might honestly come down to the wire and be a decision the dr. makes AFTER the birth b/c you never know how a woman is going to come through a birth regardless of previous times.

I know the first couple of weeks you have to be extremely careful taking the baby into public places because of germs and stuff...

This is what I was thinking... Your brother didn't indicate that the infant was coming, too, did he?
Also, 2 weeks isn't very long -- unless it's a planned c-section or they're going to induce her on a planned date, the baby may not be born on time!

Re: earliest you can fly after giving birth?
this all sounds crazy to me, origianly only half the family was coming but today in an email he goes we are hoping the baby comes early so we can all be there. I have asked for an update on what he thinks the due date is now supposed to be, but originally it was anywhere from 3-5 days before my wedding (I freaked out when I first found out but am now okay with it), but now he is alluding that it could be sometime in December instead of the first few days of January.
I guess if her doctor says its fine then it will be fine, but we wont know until the last minute. I do not like this added bit of up in the airness.

I honestly have no idea, but I can say that if it were me and I was allowed to fly I still definately wouldnt. I think I have gotten sick 100% of the time after getting off a plane. I guess its the recycled air.
Good Luck!

The baby will not be able to fly until the second set of shots two weeks before is way too soon

Re: earliest you can fly after giving birth?
I don't know the exact answer but we are invited to a wedding 5 weeks after my due date & I am already pretty sure I'm not going even though it is my FH's best friend. I feel badly leaving her for the weekend (esp during breastfeeding) and it seems too risky to take her. Besides the germ thing, then there is the hassle over liquids on planes (if bringing formula), having to buy a seat for her unless I hold her for the whole flight, then god forbid there is turbulance... and what if she screams the whole flight? It could be really stressful on the mom, especially if we're talking 1 or 2 weeks.
