Earplugs for Guests???

Hey Ladies... Just wanted to throw an idea I had out there to see what some of you thought... I've been to many family weddings where the 'older' family members have complained about the noise level of the music...To the point where they've even asked the DJ to lower it... I don't want my wedding to sound like a KISS concert, but I also don't want it to not be loud enough, and I know my DJ (Body Rock) knows how to fill a room properly with music... What are your thoughts on having a basket of pairs of earplugs? I looked on Pinterest and was surprised to find no pins on it. Could I be that innovative and thought of this???? Help me brides!!!!

Earplugs for Guests???

I don't think it's a bad idea - it might be hard for the older people to communicate with one another if they have ear plugs in but hey, if they like the idea they will take them if they don't they wont. Can't hurt they are cheap enough!

Earplugs for Guests???

When I say 'older' I mean like 50's-60's, my parents and their siblings... LOL I went through this with my sisters wedding in July. I figure they can take them out when eating, but when the partying is going on they can plug in and be comfy!

Earplugs for Guests???

I'd go for it - it's nice to have the option for those that may want it!

Earplugs for Guests???

I think this is actually brilliant, maybe you can have them in the restroom baskets so it's not as 'in your face, I'm gonna party if you don't like it, here?' I just don't know how I would phrase any signage with them on a reception table of some kind, and it would be weird to not say anything

Earplugs for Guests???

@keselyn, THANKS! I've thought of some off-color funny ways to phrase it, that I could never use, but I am thinking of going for something along the lines of 'For those tender ears' or something like that...I just cannot deal with the complaints about the noise level... It's a wedding, a party, it's supposed to be LOUD!

Earplugs for Guests???

If you've dealt with this problem at other family events/weddings, I say go for it. It's ultimately the guest's choice to wear them or not. At least you're extending the courtesy of making them more comfortable about the noise level. Some people don't do that.

Earplugs for Guests???

It's definitely a nice idea. I am always conscious of the noise level at weddings (I am in the speech and hearing field)! Like others said, if it's been a problem in your family, why not just have a basket out, I'm just not sure if people will be embarrassed to wear them. Also, when doing your seating chart, try to place the party people close to the speakers and the older people as far as possible.
