East End Brides Getting Married WKND of 9.19.08

Hey there,
Any brides getting married out on the north fork the weekend of 9.19? Do you think that traffic will still be bad out there in September?

I'm trying to figure out my pick up times for BP etc!!

I think there are 5 weddings going on that weekend at least! The Best Western and Holiday Inn Express TOTALLY sold out!

My wedding is sat 9/20 at martha clara-- my block is at the holiday inn express and it sold out in march! It was only at 20 rooms and I couldn't add anymore!! I was horrified. And the Best Western was already sold out too. So the rest of my guests are staying at the Raddison MacArthur and I am having a shuttle bring them back and forth. In a way it was probably for the best bc the Raddison is charging $119 a night compared to the Holiday Inn's $199-229!. Much more reasonable for the younger crowd. . .

Anyway-- I have a feeling traffic may be BAD!!Especially on Main Rd. I'm having the shuttle pick up from the Raddison at 5:00 for a 6:30 reception!

I picked the date based on when I could get off from work for the honeymoon. . .but WHO knew it would be such a CRAZY east end wedding weekend!

My wedding is 9-12 right after Labor day! I think traffic for me will be there. I do not how it will be 2 weeks later...but I think you will be okay! Everywhere you go these days traffic is HORRIBLE!!

I am the same weekend, but not out east but I lived out east for 10 years. My inlaws at the time live in Calverton and I can tell you the traffic doesn't stop on Labor Day. You will be entering apple picking season then pumpkin picking. Traffic will be heavy although North Fork tends to be lighter than the South fork.

YOU HAVE GOT TO B FARKING KIDDING ME!
Last year this time traffic was not that much of an issue. My wedding fell on a Jewish Holiday I am not sure if that had anything to do with it. I booked the rooms at the Holiday Inn express and I had something like 30 NO issues. Infact the shuttle picked up everyone 1/2 hour before the ceremony -wedding was at 4:30 - ( I chose this time due to outdoor tent and factoring in the amount of light time)
The hotel made the guests arrive for the shuttle at 3:45 - b/c people are always late.
Needless to say they all got to the Inn before 4:30.

I know of one wedding going on that same wknd at the Inn I am also wondering if this has something to do with the rooms being booked

sorry girls
Just a side note : I did book my hotel room blocks 4 to 5 months before the wedding - I had an idea due to save the date.

There is a another Clean motel on the main road and less expensive than the holiday Inn - I can work on the name if you like Cindy , I had 4 guests stay there as well.

I'm sure the jewish holiday had something to do with it being such an easy weekend for you in terms of booking! Especially bc my fiance is Jewish, that weekend of Sept was completely off limits! For his family, it would have been the equivalent of having a wedding on easter.

Anyway, I booked my hotel block 15 months in advance and couldn't get any more than 20 rooms ! And I only have rooms at the Holdiay Inn. By the time I went to book, the Best Western was completely filled with other wedding blocks. . .
