East End/North Fork Florist?? Moments in Time?

Help! I'm looking for an *affordable* florist out on the east end, preferably the North Fork. We have a bunch of flower shops but I'm not sure if they do weddings.

I've heard good things about Moments in Time Flower Design in Riverhead- are they pricey??

Has anyone used a local florist that doesn't typically do weddings? Are they cheaper generally? I'm thinking about talking to a few and checking them out- everything that is a 'wedding' vendor charges insane amounts of money so I'm thinking I may save a lot??

hi!

I am getting married on the North Fork and I am using Lovin Oven Floral Designs.

my cousin is getting married at Giorgios in 2 weeks and she is using a local STOP & SHOP for her flowers. she said they are beautiful and CHEAP!

i have also heard good things about Moments In Time but never contacted them

hey! I totally would use stop and shop, i really am not a big flower person- i didn't think there were any nearby but I think they just opened one in riverhead!! thanks!

are they pretty much like a regular florist as far as selection? I have particular flowers in mind, should they have them? or are they limited...

I'm using Moments in Time, Becky

Becky knows all my vendors so well, understands my design, ideas, and need for quality.

My mother was so impressed with her, that she hired her for me as DOC.

As for pricey, I would say her arrangements are about 20% more than the absolute cheapest you will ever find.

She uses really quality wholesalers and distributers, she will pick and choose the best of the flowers from the bunches that she orders, and everything will be immaculate.

One thing, she doesn't typically do high cps, so tacked on the price for the vase.... but I told her I don't need quality vases and bough them cheap myself.

I will be doing a sample with her in the next couple of weeks, if you want FM me then for pics.

You have to take a look at how well that particular Stop and Shop is stocked. The one local to me has very limited selection of roses. Carnations and Alstromera seem to be where the best selection in color is. I've never seen Peonies and things like Hydrangeas are seasonal.

The biggest problem with grocery store flowers is that they put the flowers in the fresh fruit section. Fruit give off a chemical that make the flowers rot.

If you are really not a flower person and just need something for one day, its not a bad idea.

I'm a huge flower person.

I've been to the Stop and Shop in Riverhead- the florist is on the other side of the store, no where near the fruit. It has it's own florist section.

I looked into Stop and Shop for my wedding. The prices were great, and the woman that makes the arrangements (in Medford at the time) had been in the floral business for years. The only draw back is that they do not deliver. You have to pick them up. I wouldn't have minded doing that, if the Riverhead store was open at the time, but the nearest store from my RH then was a good 35 minutes away.

Homeside Florist is in Riverhead. Their prices are ok. I used Burton's, which was no where near my RH, but their prices were still the best. You don't necessarily need to go with a florist close to your RH.
