One of my fellow librarians told me a patron came in to the library asking if we could find anything about East Wind possible going bankrupt? I'm totally freaking because thats where I'm supposed to be getting married this Jan! Anyone hear anything about this?

Re: East Wind Bankruptcy?
My father told me that today. Relax.... He also told me that many businesses do this regularly just to get out of paying their bills without ever closing. So technically East Wind could declare and still remain open for the next 50 without it effecting you or anyone else. I don't know if this is the truth its what I was told. He also told me that Gurney's Inn does it ever 4 to 5 years. Good luck

Not sure but I would recommend giving them a call first. Don't freak out just yet because bankruptcy does not always mean closing the doors on business...it could also mean they filed for bankruptcy protection to reorganize their financial infrastructure. If the latter, they can continue to conduct normal business during this process. Hope it all works out ok for you

Re: East Wind Bankruptcy?
I just got married there less than 2 weeks ago. Everything was great. This is the 1st time I heard of this. I think you should call and find out what is going on. It's so easy for me to tell you not to worry. Just hang in there and it will all work out

Re: East Wind Bankruptcy?
I dont know if its true, but try to relax and think logically. They just put a ton of $ into it. The bills are high. Maybe they need breathing room (time) until the new bookings come in. Bankrupcy filings are a way to gain time among other benefits. If they were going to give the place up, it would have been easier than bankrupcy. My opinion, for what it is worth, is that it will not affect your wedding in anyway even if it is true. If someone goes bankrupt, its usually a sign that they want to stay in business, not get out, they are seeking protection from creditors for a time. Also if it were to be sold later on, the price is gonna be so high that only a well funded GOOD operator would be able to take it over. I think you are safe! Besides, its probobly a rumor from a competitor. Good luck and stay relaxed. Call and discuss it calmly with your BM.

Update
OK...My FI called them and according to their banquet manager it is a nasty rumor and their lawyers are looking into finding out who is spreading it.
Whew! That's a load off my back! Thanks for all the words of encouragement!

Re: Update
Glad you are relaxed now, but remember even on the slimest chance it does become true or the rumor continues to spread dont forget what your fellow LIW girls told you. Stay calm, its a great facility and your wedding will be perfect. Alot of angry or jealous vendors have too much time on their hands!! Good luck. PS I will still go check them out for mine.

Re: East Wind Bankruptcy?
This is a RUMOR!!!!! East Wind had posted a whole thing regarding how they are searching for whoever started this and are taking legal action. In fact, they're building another hotel!!! But now for some reason...that post isn't on the computer anymore...oh well, either way...I trust EW's word over whatever might be going around town.

wow..... that's a pretty damaging rumour...... I hope it doesn't affect too many brides.
Sorry you had to freak for nothing, that's really too bad, but at least everything is OK

I think this entire thing is terrible! I hope East Wind finds who is behind this and sues their butt!! I can't believe their competitors are so worried about their business that they would slander EW! I think EW is a great addition to the local community (they had Matt Beasley's charity event there last evening!) and hearing about their new project starting, I will be a long-time promoter. I was married there recently and will definately use them for future events!

bisous, so quick to sue? Could it be a simple misunderstanding w/no maliscious intent? You're very quick to presume that a competitor was behind this.

Re: East Wind Bankruptcy?
Hello Girls, new to the site!!
This thing about East Wind is hilarious!! I'm booked there at their brand new place, The Inn...and I can't wait till my wedding!! Everytime I've gone there everyone has been so nice and helpful and the place is just BEAUTIFUL. My two sisters even got married there, one at the Country Gardens and one at the Estate...I'm the third one! Both of their weddings were AWESOME. My dad is really good friends with the owner and this rumor couldn't be any further from the truth. Everytime I go there, they're always busy...have you been to one of their showcases??? They're always packed!! The hotel is sold out the night of my wedding...hopefully the new place will be done by the time mine comes around!! I heard they are looking for the person that started up the rumors so they can squash it. Most of the time its just competitors that start these things up because they're jealous. Get a life!! haha.... Sorry...but I just totally defend East Wind cause I love it so much!!!

Hey girls again....
Its no coincidence, like I said my dad is good friends with the owner and mentioned that this was the word on this site...so with that I decided to check it out. No 'funny' business...just defending our friends.
