Re: East Wind Brides

We just booked our RD at Desmonds since our actual ceremony and rehearsal will be at EW.

My block is just about full, so I need to add more, but I can't seem to get a consistent answer from anyone on what their policy is. I'm a little frustrated that I have to add more rooms to the block since that just becomes more rooms we're resp for. Since my block is full, any guest who calls after, should get the discounted rate. I'm sure most of you already read my rant a couple of weeks ago.

We're also hosting Brunch the next morning at Desmonds for overnight guests, so it should be a great weekend!

Heres how it worked for me...
After our original block of 10 was filled I blocked 2 more rooms at a time and as they filled up I would block 2 more. (you just call up and say add 2 rooms to my block..easy) You could do it one at a time if you wanted.

Also, they told me that if people reserve more than you've blocked for, you could always move them into your block later (for the discount).

HTH!

Can we talk cakes???

Has anyone seen there book of cakes? The choices were limited ...What are you all doing regarding your cake? What did you do if you are already married?

I'm not 100% sure about how the cake tasting works, but I know EW gets their cakes through The Rolling Pin Bakery. I think you have to make an appointment with them directly for a tasting or to talk about any extras. I'm pretty sure we get a standard cake with our wedding package, but if we wanted anything super-fancy, we'd have to pay extra.

Here's the link for The Rolling Pin Bakery

Re: East Wind Brides

You have a choice of like 4 cakes before upgrading.
You can make some changes to the designs for no charge.
You do not get to taste any of them. You can go to Rolling Pin if you want to try out their cakes.

We are doing 2 layers of yellow cake w/raspberry filling and 2 layers of yellow cake with cannoli filling and changing the design of one of their standard cakes.

BTW, to upgrade the cake was like $1500!

$1500???? WOW.

Fortunately we want a simple cake with real flowers on it. Nothing too extreme. I hope that falls in line with one of the 4 they offer!

Was that price through Rolling Pin or the other 'official' EW bakery??? I saw their other baker at a showcase, and that was the price he gave me, but I didn't think Rolling Pin would be that much for an upgrade!

That was the quote the EW gave us when we went to do our menus and pick the cake out. Its actually priced per person. I think it was $8 per person for fondant icing!

Re: East Wind Brides

I guess what I had in mind is not going to happen. I think their 4 that are included are not so nice, but at least it is good that we can change the designs...I guess it isnt that important right??? not 1500 dollars important at least
