East Wind Caterers
I recently asked the best person in the world to marry me on Sunday August 13th. We went to go look at East Wind Caterers on 25A in Riverhead this afternoon. We loved it and so I was just wondering if anyone else has booked that place or has been at a wedding there and can critique it for me and my new fiance, Jeanne. Thank you sooo much. Finally Happy Mike D
You might also try calling the Archdiocese and explaining your situation. They might be able to suggest a church that is more accomodating.

I am getting married at Eastwind on Nov 4, 2001. I have not been to a wedding there but I did attend the showcase they had last month. Let me start by saying that we went to about 15 halls on Long Island and nothing made us feel the way we felt when we went to Eastwind. Both my fiance and I live in Brooklyn so its kind of a schlep for us and our families but its so beautiful, we thought it was worth it. We are getting married on site and having our reception at the Estate. When you walk in and you see the beautiful chandelier and hear the piano playing its breathtaking. The country gardens were nice but they were too small for our party and we didnt like the fact that our guest had to walk from one building into another (what if its raining?) The bridal suite at the Estate is the best I saw hands down. I could live in that place. Its big and decorated so tastfully and most imp its big enough so that the entire bridal party (groomsmen included) can eat after pics during the tail end of your cocktail hour. Oh and the food was really good...And they give you sooo much food in the cokctail hour your guest are not going to beleive it. We though the cake was out of this world. I cant say enough. The people are very nice and I though they were more reasonable than most places. I thought they were fair in their bargining. PLease email me if have any questions [email protected]
Kevin is the person that our priest told us to talk to. I plan to call once I know when I'll be in town next.
Sounds like they may be too pricy for me though, since Flowers were an area I thought I'd cut back.

fnrldrectr@aol Congrats!!! We have also booked Eastwind, but we are at the Country Gardens 7/4/2002 (yes almost 2 years!!). One of the things we liked about it was the walk to the dining room after cocktail hour! It is such a unique setup, like nothing I've seen before. We went to at least 5 other places and this is the only one that got the "Oh Wow!" reaction from me!! We are having the ceremony there as well and we got a great price for July!! We have been to their showcase & were impressed with ALMOST ALL of the food. We spoke with Stephanie the first few times and did the contract thing with Michelle. I also like the fact that the Inn at Eastwind should be ready in time for our wedding!! Much luck! It is a beautiful place!! Val R

Congratulations and welcome! I'm getting married at East Wind (the Estate) on June 9, 2000. I went to several other places, but completely fell in love with East Wind. It's beautiful, the people are nice as can be, and it's reasonably priced. Everyone there has been wonderful and helpful and I've heard nothing but good things about the place. (Though I've never been to a wedding there, I know a couple of people who have - and they all loved it!) The food is also very good and I completely agree with Jenny about the Bridal Suite - the best one I've seen! It's also really nice if you're planning on marrying at your reception site, as I am. Many of the places that I visited during my search didn't have good areas for the ceremony - either they just weren't that nice or you could hear cars zooming past. East Wind is in a nice, quiet area. And they're building a hotel across the street, which is where I plan on staying on my wedding night, if it's finished by then (they're saying it most likely will be.) Lots of luck and congrats again!
Dawn; Do a search on Fox Hollow. A lot of brides on the board have been very happy with their weddings there.
Sorry
My wedding was there
Hi Michael! I just had my wedding there in May of this year. I can't tell you how happy I was with the place, how beautiful it was on my wedding day and the food was fantastic, so I'm told... I never ate. You can email me for any other information. [email protected] I would request John as your maitre de'------- WONDERFUL MAN!
Good advice. I've tried the dress on before and ALWAYS get choked up when I see myself in it. I guess that means it's it, right?
Thanks!

I went to a wedding at the East Wind 2 years ago (the one with the 2 separate buildings). They had an outside ceremony and the grounds were beautiful. The buffet dinner food and the service was great.
THANKS AGAIN!!! I don't know what I would do without this board!!
MICHAEL?
Did you get my email. I received notice that it was undeliverable. Let me know. I sent you some pictures of my wedding at Eastwind

What food did you not like at Eastwind? I want to know for when I go pick out my menu.
For our honeymoon I was looking at the windjammer in St. Lucia or the Moon Palace in Cancun.
Can anyone provide me with any feedback? Thanks

Are you getting married in the Estate or the Country Gardens? Do you mean to say you will be married in 2001?

Oops! Yup, I meant 2001! I'm getting married at the Estate. The Country Gardens was nice, too, though. It's such a pretty place!
I got 130 invitations from the Jamie Lee Catalog for less than $200. With tax and shipping it was around $205. That included invitations, outer envelopes, inner envelopes(free), response cards, response env, table # cards and my return address on the outer envelopes.
Wanted to know if you could tell me how pricey they were in your time of year?? I heard they have excellent service. Also is it one wedding at a time??

My fiance and I were so excited after looking at the web site. It turned out that the sales representative was SO rude!!! We fell in love with the big ballroom and would have had our wedding there. However, we were practically "thrown" out of that building because our guest count was not near 175 yet. (We aren't even getting married until next Nov.!) We had to go over to the smaller "Country" facility which we didn't like. The lady tried to talk us into having a Friday or Sunday wedding b/c we only want around 125 at the reception. The room didn't even look like it could hold 125 comfortably. I would never recommend this place to anyone, simply b/c of the rude staff.
We are having our reception at Vineyard Caterers in Riverhead and they are so nice! The facilities are beautiful!
This websites purpose is for people to get information, ideas, and opinions about L.I. Weddings. You need to all learn how to relax and have an open mind. I'm not asking for you to agree with what I have to say -- I'm simply stating my opinion, which is what she asked for.

Tina: I had my wedding at Eastwind and booked based on 3 seperate referrals from co-workers who either attended a wedding there or had their wedding there. I had 113 - 120 people and had room in the Country Garden Room for even more. They know what they are doing and my girlfriend had close to 160 in that room. I found their staff to be the best I've ever experienced. I am not saying that because my wedding was there. Every call I made, was returned, every visit was accomodated. Actually, my guests and family members STILL comment on how wonderful and helpful the Maitre' de was to me and my guests. For the back room, you need to have 200 guests; that's their policy! Your comment is the first time I have ever heard anything bad about Eastwind beginning from my planning 2 years ago. For those of you who did book Eastwind, YOU WILL BE EXTREMELY HAPPY!
Yes, you pay by the picture. With most of the photographers, you pay a flat rate, and they shoot what they consider to be their "limit". Whatever number that may be - 200, 250... The way Mark is priced you pay for each shot he takes. He may shoot 800 pictures, he may not. Since you are basically paying the cost of the film and developing based on what he shoots, it is virtually impossible to know exactly what the end cost will be. If that makes you queasy, then it is definitely better to use a photographer that will give you a flat rate. Remember, though, that when a photographer is shooting hundreds of candids, that there will be pictures there that a photographer who is limiting his exposures will not get. Is that worth it? Does it matter to you? Do you basically want the traditional posed photos? Who knows. Everyone is different and everyone needs to decide what is important to them. What is right for one person may not be right for someone else. He is defintely not for everyone. That's fine. Everyone is different and needs to do whatever makes them comfortable.
I went with Ferlise....they also customized a package for me, letting me choose the number of shots I wanted in each album, and the number of shots I wanted altogether. With their guidance, I came up with a package that fit both my needs and my budget.

I believe that if you are going to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding reception, the catering director should treat you exceptionally well. Maybe there is a bad egg working there. Unfortunately, I do not remember her name. The thing that made us angry is that we told them that on our INITIAL list,we only have around 125-150 and they STILL proceeded to show us the big room saying that it should be okay. THEN, the rude lady told us otherwise. It was downhill from there. The sad thing is that by next November, we may have 200 people and they didn't even give me the chance to explain that. I will say that the large banquet room and cocktail facilities are absolutely gorgeous!
I simply stated my first reaction, you all don't like it because 90% of you are all getting married at 'Wedding Factories' as well - and the truth hurts doesn't it. If thats what you like, then all the best to you!!!!
You are not being held at gunpoint to read my message, if you don't care for the way I say something or if you have a problem with my comment -- then simply pass my message by, going to the next. Theres no need to write me nasty and insulting messages on the board.

Tina,
Who did you meet with at East Winds...it couldn't have been Michelle.
East Wind Caterers
Sorry you had a bad expereince at EastWind. My FI and I booked East Wind for Friday Nov. 2nd, 2001. Our sales rep, Michelle, was a doll. On Friday night you must guarantee 150 people and we are looking for approx. 170-200, so its perfect.
My future mother-in-law was recently at a wedding at Vineyard Caterers in Riverhead and she is still raving about it two months later. Good Luck!!!

Thanks! My fiance's family just bought a summer home in Cutchogue so we are making the wedding a Country Yineyard theme out by the house! I am so excited. That is so funny! We are getting married on November 3, 2001. The same weekend! Good luck with everything
I also went to the food tasting at Flowerfields. What did you think? When is your wedding?

East Wind Caterers
No...The name Michelle does not ring a bell at all. The lady was tall with very short brown hair. We actually saw 3 different people. One who showed us the ballroom..she was VERY nice. The second one was the nasty lady. Then we had a third lady show us the Country Estate. She was also polite.
