East Wind Caterers
Yeah! I would love to have my cocktail hour outside. Vineyard Caterers has an enclosed deck that they will either leave open or enclose in glass, depending on the weather.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tina, I'm sorry you had such an experience. I'm not sure that you even want to go back there, but if you have the desire to, call and make an appointment with John. He is wonderful and will work with you. I think I know the woman you are talking about. I think I met her on my last visit to Eastwind before the wedding, but John was there and accomodated all of our last minute changes and additions. I loved working with him. If not, good luck with other places. Timber Point is also beautiful and has beautiful grounds. Concetta is getting married there in October and my sister did as well. Very romantic there with a fireplace too.
I do think it's a nice idea to honor these family members, maybe there is another way where it won't affect others.

No, we are having a great big church wedding in Bohemia...but those pictures on the front lawn will be even better if it is sunny!
I have also attended a wedding at Flowerfield and they did a fabulous job.

Oh Mike I forgot to tell you that If you go down North Country Road right by Eastwind, before it, You take North Country down about 5 or 7 minutes and you are at the beach! That's the picture I sent to you. It might be worth the trip before hitting the reception. Just a little different.
I personally think that it would be a nice, however you don't want people getting upset or deprest as they enter your reception. I don't know if you are having a church wedding or not, but at the beginning of my church ceremony my FI and I are going to take a symobolic votive candle that we plan to keep in our apartment and place it on the altar and light it as the priest says a special prayer in stating that it is in honor of my mother who passed away. I personally think that if you and your FI want to have them their in your own special way...THAT'S WHAT'S IMPORTANT!

We actually booked because everything was booking so fast!! We are getting married Nov. 3, 2001 at Vineyard Caterers in Riverhead. My fiance's parents have a house on the North Fork, and we are going to use their church (Our Lady of Good Counsel in Mattituck) for the ceremony. It is beautiful. We really want to go with the whole 'wine-country' theme. Vineyard Caterers actually overlooks their own vineyard and they are going to serve the local wines. It should be very nice. Thanks for the recommendation though. Maybe someone reading your message could use John for their wedding plans at East Wind!
I knew the Miller Place Inn was 'it' for me but after reading your post, I'm certain my wedding will be fantastic!!! Good Luck!!
I'm going but I can't remember what time I told them! I think I said 3:00. I'm looking forward to it since it will be my first look at flowers.
East Wind Caterers
I looked at the Vineyard Caterers first. It's beautiful. My in-laws also live on the North Fork - East Marion and I love it out there. November will be gorgeous out there too. Good Luck
I am not going for any extras because I think that the quality of everything else is great. I want my guests to enjoy dinner and not get stuffed at the cocktail hour and waste all that food. Plus we didn't take extras because that extra couple dollars per person really adds up when you are having 200 people.
East Wind Caterers in November
Any of the Eastwind brides or grooms ever been there in the fall? WHat do the flowers look like? They said they put mums in in the fall but I was wondering if the gardens are as vibrant as the spring and summer.

East Wind Caterers
Thanks! I hope the weather is good. This year has been so rainy!!! Maybe next year will different.
IT'S RIGHT IN TIMES SQUARE AND I THINK IT'S BETWEEN 42 AND 43. I REMEBER SEEING IT ACROSS THE STREET WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE BROADWAY ENTRANCE TO THE WARNER BROS. STORE.
East Wind Caterers
I went to a wedding a few years ago there in late November. The ballroom was kind of cramped, because there is only the one room and it was too cold to go outside and enjoy the lovely grounds. If you book East Wind, I would strongly suggest you book during a warmer month, so your guests can minge throughout the entire grounds and not feel confined to one small space.
WOW! you must have been reading out minds. We are just about to launch a new feature on the site called 'For Newlyweds Only'. You can look at the chat board for it here http://www.liweddings.com/newlyweds/
Please keep in mind that this is new so there are no postings, yet! So, please feel free to be the first!
East Wind Caterers
The weddign that you went to must have been in the Country Gardens. Both the cocktail hour and main dining room are cramped...however I booked the estate...where the cocktail hour is two large rooms and a patio and unless you have a huge wedding I can't see being cramped in the main dining room at the Estate. Hopefully the first week in Nov won't be that cold and my guests can mingle outside.
DJ needed!

Do you recall what the grounds looked like in November. I am getting married at Eastwind in November, and a little worried that the grounds wont be anywhere near as pretty as in the spring/summer when we booked.
I've been having a ball with my mom-we've been favor shopping, etc. Can't wait until after the holidays when we can really get in gear-our wedding is not until April 2002, so we won't look for flowers, limos, etc. until January of next year.
East Wind Caterers- Ellen
It was several years ago when I was there, but I remember thinking the grounds were beautiful, at night they had white lights all over which was really nice. They were very well maintained and i am sure you will love it!
I read last night's post from betryed with my parents and fi in the room. My fi thinks that we brides are going to drive each other crazy with all the worrying. My Dad used his favorite line--'Don't worry Jenn, no one will notice (all the construction) with all the rain we're going to have.'

I AM GETTING MARRIED NEXT SEPTEMBER ON THE NINTH. IT IS A SUNDAY. WE HAD TO GO WITH A SUNDAY BECAUSE ONE IT IS CHEAPER AND TWO WE AREN'T GOING TO INVITE MORE THAN 150. I LOVE IT. IT IS SO PRETTY. I LIKED IT BETTER THAN EAST WIND BECAUSE EAST WIND DOESN'T REALLY HAVE VERY MUCH ROOM TO TAKE PICTURES OUTSIDE DUE TO SO MUCH PARKING. IT WAS NICE THOUGH. I WENT TO MY COUSINS WEDDING THERE ABOUT 4 OR 5 YEARS AGO AND LOVED IT SO THAT WAS THE FIRST PLACE I WENT. I LIVE ON THE EAST END SO THERE REALLY AREN'T ANY PLACES TO HAVE YOUR RECEPTION. I HOPE EVERYTHING IS STRESS FREE FOR YOU. I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. SO FAR SO GOOD! I TOOK MY FIANCE TO SEE IT THIS PAST WEEKEND AND HE LOVED IT. I HAVE HAD IT BOOKED SINCE MARCH AND EVEN THEN THEY DIDN'T REALLY HAVE MANY DATES LEFT.
They get away with charging the tax on the gratutity because they call it a 'service charge' and a charge can be taxed.
Good luck.

TINA
Great! Maybe you can help me when we start planning. I am going to need to find a good DJ! My friends got married this weekend and picked a DJ randomly out of a book and he was TERRIBLE! I love the East End of Long Island. It is so beautiful out there!
I made a checklist of everything I had to do (starting 3 days prior to the wedding) and I assigned duties to my bridesmaids and mother-in-law. I religiously used the knot.com checklist I think it was wonderful.
We had to be ready by 9 a.m. So I had the hairdresser at my house at 6:30 a.m. I had my hair put in curlers the previous day and so did my girls. We all had updo's, 3 of us and we were done by 8:00 a.m. The other two bridesmaids arrived at my house at 8:00 a.m. dressed and ready. I had my makeup done by my sister-in-law and that took 1/2 hour.
TINA
WHAT COMPANY SO I KNOW NOT TO USE THEM. I FEEL THAT THE DJ IS ON THE TOP OF THE IMPORTANT LIST. TO HAVE A GOOD ONE.
Do you know how I can contact Paris?
Thanks

TINA
I don't know who they used...I think he was an independent or something b/c I saw him loading the van, and there was no name on it. They got married in New Rochelle anyway so he wouldn't even be by us.
Anne,
Try Lands End and also Vineyard Caterers. Both are beautiful places and probably in your price range. Very unique sites, not your typical halls.

Re: East Wind Caterers
Hey everyone,I am getting married at East WInd caterers and so far everything has been great. We spoke to Mike he is a sales rep there. He was so nice, and took a lot of time with us. HE showed us all three places and we chose the Estates. It is sooo beautiful. We fell in love. They also have the inn at eastwinds, there are only 50 rooms. So if you want to book, BOOK EARLY. I would definately reccomend Estate at East wind. The grounds are absolutely Beautiful, Mike is a sweet heart. The pricing was extremely reasonable. Compared to everywhere else we looked. Well, good luck. We'll keep you updated. I've heard great things from about 6 people that have either had their weddings there or someone they know.

Re: East Wind Caterers
We are having our wedding at the country gardens in March. I have been to several weddings there and everything always went PERFECT! I have never heard anything bad about them either. John is the person we spoke to. I must admut since the grand ballroom was added things are not a personable as before, but the place is still as nice as can be! I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
