East Wind, Fine Art + others I used at my 6/9 wedding (long!
Hello! I just got back from my honeymoon yesterday - I can''''t believe the wedding is over and I''''m married! It goes by REALLY fast, so I hope you all have good luck planning and have a great day! I know I found this board VERY helpful in all of my planning, so I just wanted to tell you guys about the vendors I used with hope that it''''ll help some of you. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected], too! Well, the start to my story isn''''t so good (but it gets better!). I hired Elaine to do my hair and make-up plus hair for 3 bridesmaids and my mom. She was supposed to come at 6am, but she came a half hour late. She did a good job on everyone, BUT she was supposed to have everyone done by 9:30 since that''''s when my photographer was coming. SHE WASN''''T DONE WITH EVERYONE UNTIL 11AM!!! We were supposed to LEAVE with the limo at 10:45!!! So she made my morning REALLY stressful, worrying about being LATE to MY OWN WEDDING!!! Needless to say, I would NOT recommend her to ANYONE and if you booked her, make sure she comes VERY EARLY! The limo company we used - Sir Oliver - was comparable in price to other companies and they were great - no problems to report and very nice drivers. We had our ceremony and reception at EAST WIND CATERERS - All of you East Wind brides are going to be thrilled with your reception site choice - Everyone there was wonderful and helpful and great!!! I got numerous compliments on how beautiful it was and how great the food was, too. Our personal attendant, Diane, was fantastic, too. For the ceremony, we were married by Father Brennan. The ceremony was very nice and we were happy with him. For Photography and Video, we booked Fine Art. I haven''''t gotten any of the pictures back yet (but I''''ll post again when I do) but they took a lot of film, they weren''''t all annoying in our faces, they were all really nice and we were very happy with them. The only thing I wasn''''t thrilled about was that I was told Frank Hughes would be my photographer (but it wasn''''t in our contract - but we only looked at HIS work, thinking HE would be our photographer) and he did take the pictures of me and the bridesmaids at my house, but at the reception, we had someone else, who SEEMED great and who SEEMED to know what he was doing, but I never saw any of his work, so I don''''t know for sure! So if you booked Fine Art, I would make sure it says in my contract the photographer''''s name. For the band, we used GET ON UP - They''''re an 8-piece band, priced very reasonably and they were absolutely fantastic!!! The band leader, Rob, is super-nice and he had us at ease and not even worrying about how the band would perform - we just KNEW they would be great - AND THEY WERE!!! What else . . . for favors, we had windchimes - they''''re really cute, around $5 each (I only gave 1 per couple, not per person - too expensive)that I ordered from www.theweddingdept.com. My dress I got from the Bridal Suite of Patchogue (Elaine is very nice) who I was pretty happy with. My headpiece was from the Bridal Botique on Sunrise Hwy in Massapequa - they had a good selection there and were pretty reasonable. Shoes I got from a little store on Sunrise Hwy opposite the Massapequa Park train station in a little shopping plaza that has a Duncan Donuts and some other shops - the name of the store slipped my mind - but they were great - good selection and everything is dyable - the people there were really nice, too. Oh, and after the wedding, we stayed at DANFORDS - I was EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED with them. They messed up our reservations - my new husband and I were supposed to get a 'beautiful' waterview room, but instead we got an icky room where you walked through a half-painted, musty hallway and had a view of a Chinese food restaurant and the street. And when we asked them about it, they gave us varying answers, a discount, and were rude and uncaring (and it was the manager we were speaking with). And I think that''''s about it. The day goes really, really fast, so enjoy it and relax! If you have any questions at all, or if you need phone numbers or more info on anyone, feel free to e-mail me or post! Best of luck to all of you!!! Karen

The Estate + Hawaii
We got married at the Estate - it was really beautiful and I cannot say enough good stuff about East Wind - they're really wonderful!!! The honeymoon was Hawaii - The Big Island (The Orchid - GREAT, GREAT, GREAT HOTEL!!!) and Kauai (the Sheraton - didn't like the hotel much - they Hyatt on Kauai is MUCH nicer, though more pricey, but the island is gorgeous! Both islands are very different and beautiful!). I loved it. We had a great wedding and a great honeymoon! Thanks to all of you who were helpful in my planning and lots of luck to all of you soon-to-be brides!!!
