East Wind or Watermill?????

Original post by gigglebride

Help?!?!?! My fiance and I cannot decide between booking the Watermill (in Smithtown) or East Wind Estate (in Wading River) for our May 2009 wedding reception. Has anyone attended any recent weddings at either or have any insight/advice?? Any help would be MUCH appreciated, thanks!!!

East Wind allllll the way. We also checked out Watermill and while it was pretty nice, we felt that everyone and their mother has been to a wedding at the Watermill. East Wind is more unique.

Plus whenever I talk to another vendor of mine and tell them Im at EW, they have such great things to say about them and how easy it is to work with them. Definitly makes me feel so confident with our decision.

I love the food and the atmosphere and just eveyrthing!!

We actually had the same dilema. I loved the Watermill and the Estate. We chose the Estate. I love the cocktail hour room. The food is good at the East Wind too. It's expensive though. We were able to get a deal, so we ended up going there. The Watermill has good pricing and Bruce is really nice. Good Luck! Either way you decide, it's going to be beautiful.

I of course have to say East Wind since we had our reception there!!

My husband and I looked at a bunch of places but EW was always our top choice. We loved the whole place- with the Inn and the Estate. And the customer service there is AMAZING. Everyone that we dealt with was fantastic!

The food and service was just as wonderful the day of and all of our guests raved about EW! And they of course loved being able to stay at the Inn and the brunch the next morning in their restaurant. Check out my review so you can see some more pictures.

Good luck with your choice- FM me if you have anymore questions!

I second Bruce...he is one of the main reasons we booked the Watermill. He made us feel so comfortable and it's going to be a pleasure having him around on our wedding day.

Believe it or not...None of our friends and family have been to a wedding at the Watermill. We are actually very excited to have our wedding there.

East Wind is nice too, but we are happy with the decision we made. I think East Wind is a great place for pre and post wedding events. Myf riend did that and we had a great time. Their grounds are great plus they have a spa.

Maybe you could have both?

I have never been to Watermill but judging from the post it is just as fabulous as East Wind. Either way you cannot go wrong.

We've actually visited both already and met with catering managers at both, but just can't decide between the two! I think something is wrong with me that I don't just know as soon as I walk in?! We are going back next Sunday for a second site visit to both of them... hopefully that will help?!

If you both like them, then I would go for the best deal

Re: East Wind or Watermill?????

EW is giving us a slightly higher price than Watermill, but we're also getting more for it so I think in the end it's a wash. Also makes the decision so much harder!!

Someone mentioned the cocktail room combo (in and out) in the EW Estate which is AMAZING, although so is the outside option at Watermill. One of the things holding me back from booking Watermill is that their Viennese hour would be set up on the dance floor which would stop the party, while EW would have it back in the cocktail room. Ugh, I think I need to just pick from a hat or something. ;)
