Re: Easy Poll: Hand free driving anyone?
I won't talk on the phone at all while driving. Even with hands free. I think it's distracting either way.

and just to comment on this law...i hate it, if you cant do this, you shouldnt be able to do evreything else in the car because its the same thing. example... talking in person is the same as talking on a cell phone.

I don't get what you said. That having to use hands free doesn't make sense?
Do you know how many times I see someone changing lanes without signaling because they have their phone in their left hand and steering with the right? Or trying to back out of a parking spot with one hand?
I love the people who use the hands free but still hold their phones. DUH!!!

I disagree with that. I do not believe talking person to person is the same as talking on the phone. When someone is on the phone they tend to zone out and fumble around with the wire/ear piece, adjust the volume, dial the number etc. you don't do any of those things while talking person to person.
Yes and I love it! When I move to NC at the end of the month I plan on keeping it up!

Re: Easy Poll: Hand free driving anyone?
Yeah...since I got a TICKET for it!! I learned my lesson. It's a $150 fine PLUS points on your license!!! I never used to bring the hands free and just avoid picking up the phone while driving. Sometimes I would though. But now I'm more careful and if I don't have my handsfree on me, I'll just shut my phone off so I'm not even tempted to pick it up if it rings.
It's really a terrible thing to drive while talking on the phone even though I hate the fact that I got that ticket, I totally deserved it and the cop was doing his job.
A few minutes later I saw him pull over another girl who was doing the same thing.

I put other because I use the speaker phone.
same here... the speakerphone is good enough that I can leave the phone open on my lap, and I can speak/hear without any problems.
great invention!!

Jersey requires it too. If I have to do it, I use the speaker phone - most of the time I avoid talking on the phone while driving. You never know what the other guy is gonna do.

I am not coordinated enough to drive while holding a phone to my ear. I always use handsfree

Re: Easy Poll: Hands free driving anyone?
people are eating and can be very easily distracted by anything else. i think there was a report done recently somplace (maybe wash DC) that there were more accidents made up from other things like putting lipstick on, eating, etc... into 1 catagory then cells phone use alone.
i just think of the phone as talking to somone when they arent there. if someone is playing w/ voulme and ear peices, phehaps they dont have the right equipment. If i were talking to DW, i would turn and look to her on occassions where as im talking hands free and nobody is in the car....im 100% commited to seeing the road and seeing where other cars are
im all for it...and just saying, you can do so many other things and get an accident...
sorry if i confuse ppl...i make no sense most of the time. DW will say the same

Re: Easy Poll: Hands free driving anyone?
I don't use my cell phone much, so I definitely don't use it when I drive. I do think it is too distracting, even with the hands free devices.
I also don't like being accessible to everyone 24-7. I prefer to enjoy time during the day when people can't reach me. If they need to talk to me, they can leave a message. I always return the call. I think I am definitely in the minority on this one.

I love the hands free thing, I also drive a stick so it's almost impossible not to use it. Great invention.

ct allows cell phones so i use them in ct with no hands free
