Whenever I treat myself to a dessert, or high carb food, I never know when to quit. I'm always going back for seconds and thirds. How do you force yourself to eat in moderation?

Re: Eating In Moderation...
I've been trying to not surround myself with food. At home, I do not buy ice cream or cookies anymore. When out, I do not order dessert. If I am at a party, I go to the dessert table once, pick out 1 or 2 things, and do not allow myself to take more. It's sad, but also eating salad helps me limit how much I eat. It is more filling before eating a meal, so I then tend to eat less.

It's funny that I came home and read this because I was driving home just now in the car and as I was passing all of these fast food palces, I was thinking to myself how hard it is to eat healthy in our society. It's so similar to cigarettes because junk food is an addiction like smoking and the corporations make it like it's ok. Now, I don't ever eat fast food because I'm not a fried food person, but I each sugary food like it's going out of style. And I know I cannot control myself around it. But it seems like it's EVERYWHERE I GO. I swear. It's just too freaking hard sometimes. Hence the reason I'm so freaking fat these days

I think about how much I love fitting into my clothes. Eating in moderation, once you get the hang of it is extremely simple. However, you are entitled to the occasional 'slip up'. I've eaten in moderation for the past 3 years as my 'diet' and it works fabulously. You never feel deprived.

I let myself have a little of what I want on a regular basis- I do not believe in TREATING myself, because that means that I have been depriving myself for a period of time and THAT leads to over eating. If I have a little of what I want regularly, I don't go over board when I eat.
This is what I have learned from losing 24 pounds on WW and keeping it off since Feb. so far. I count my points and really eat whatever I want for the points I am allowed.

i know what foods trigger those moods and i try to avoid them. if not, i drink 2 or 3 large ice cold glasse of water before I start eating and by the time I start I am sooo full...soda is great too cause of all the gas bubbles
i learned this trick this weekened, its great

Me too, I don't want to have to buy a new wardrode and the DH doesn't want me too either I try not to diet, because then when you go off it always seems you gain the weight back or return to your old eating habits. I think it is all about lifestyle choices. I hardly eat fast food, I don't drink soda or juice. When I worked I brought my own lunch instead of eating a huge deli sandwich/fast food and have managed to maintain the same size. The only exercise I do is Yoga.
