ebay scam

Did anyone hear about the guy that paid over $1000 to get what he thought was a plasma TV only to find out he won a PICTURE of a plasma TV?

I've noticed tons of auctions on ebay for ipods where it's not for an actual ipod but for information on how to get one. ***?

Here's what one seller wrote in the description:
What you are bidding on is infomation on how to receive an apple ipod and other great items such as laptops and plasma televisions, for the great price of £20

Yet the auction ended at 141 pounds!!! These sellers are hoping that people don't read the description and bid, bid, and bid. Half of me thinks what fools the buyers are, but still, it's a scam and I think ebay should monitor it. But I guess there's nothing illegal in selling information or a picture if it says that's what you are selling.

I have a question. Ive never bought something off e-bay for that reason - I would be afraid Im paying for something that winds up being fake. How do you know what your buying is an authentic item, and not either a knock-off or something totally different??

I have seen plenty of those ads on ebay. The information is said right in plain view.

Anyone that bids on these auctions thinking they are getting an actual product... frankly is an idiot.
