I sold my second item on ebay so I am still new at this and I need advice. I am very sonfused by this. I chose USPS Priority Mail for shipping and the charges came to $27.80. I feel like this is way too much but when I plug in the measurements and weight it comes out the same. I tried UPS just for the sake of it and Ground Shipping was $10.81. I feel bad that shipping is so high when the item was only $20. Should I email the seller and see if they would want me to ship UPS ground instead?
ETS; UPS 3 day select is also cheaper, about $17.

Re: Ebay selling question
If the shipping fees are clear in the auction you don't have to worry about it. But I am sure the buyer would appreciate a less expensive alternative.

Re: Ebay selling question
I had the calculator in there so I hope they checked. It seems really high to me, especially when UPS is so much less.

Re: Ebay selling question
Something seems fishy here I think there is an error with the calculator. What if I take it to the post office and it costs less? Should I offer to refund money? I didn't plan on making money off the shipping - I hate when sellers do that

Re: Ebay selling question Update with mre questions
Why don't you ship it via USPS 1st class mail or parcel post. Priority is expensive if the item is heavy or has to go to the west coast. I ship priority if it is under 1 pound. Then it is only $3.85 and gets there in 2 days. Go to usps.com and then you can enter in weight and zip codes to get correct amount. On ebay it might only be quoting for priority.

It is heavy - about 5 pounds. I just emailed her a few options, I guess it is her decision now!

The problem with USPS 1st class is you get no sort of confirmation. UPS with tracking is the way to do it.

Re: Ebay selling question Update with mre questions
That calculator is definitely off. According to usps.com a 6 pound package from NY to Beverly Hills via priority would be $12.30 and parcel post would be $11.49
I always use the zip 90210 to figure out the farthest it could go...haha

The post office has delivery confirmation that tracks the package. If you ship priority and print the label your self, it's free otherwise is 45 or 55 cents. You have to bring it to the PO to send to register the confirmation number right away - this is your proof of delivery and will let you know where the package is and when it's delivered.
Kim ~ I do the same thing with 90210...LOL

Don't you have to take into account the measurements also? The box is very large... and the person lives in Washington. I will leave it up to her - either she can pay that outrageous price or ship UPS ground. I hate these shipping calculators!!!
